Andrea Kanick C o m m u n i t y A c t i v i t i e s Multiple Sclerosis Walk Volunteer for St. Bernard’s School Adopt-a-Family at Christmastime Operations manager and vice president Andrea Kanick says people in the operations unit are extremely important to the bank’s ability to succeed. “We support all of the other units so they can serve our clients better,” says Andrea, who supervises the applications management and relationship management departments. “They need accurate data, balanced applications, and information they can count on.” Andrea celebrated her 25th anniversary with First Commonwealth in 2008. She has enjoyed the challenge as well as the people. “I started as a keypunch operator and developed my skills over the years. I now have the privilege of helping my staff members develop their talents,” Andrea explains. “Because of First Commonwealth’s strategic focus, our employees understand the big picture and do their best to create a seamless operation. In 2008, we made it a priority to get out into the public, to have a true conversation with our clients, and to really listen to what they need and expect from their financial services provider. Creative product promotions and monthly blitzes resulted in visits to more than 4,200 companies and individuals in 2008, helping us deliver the personal touch that is the hallmark of First Commonwealth. We were successful in expanding and deepening our existing relationships, as well as creating new ones. We continued to show our commitment to the communities we serve by encouraging our employees to be active volunteers and by providing financial support to worthy community programs. Our people have given their time, talents, and financial support to countless charities and community groups, including children’s charities and health care efforts, such as cancer research and efforts to fight heart disease. We are actively involved in civic and community outreach, such as teaching children about money management and supporting the arts. First Commonwealth also actively works to ensure the welfare of animals in our communities through humane societies and zoo programs. If it is important in the lives of our employees and to the well-being of our neighborhoods, then it is important to First Commonwealth. A Better Year First Commonwealth is small enough to be an integral part of the fabric of our community but large enough to offer many of the products and services small banks cannot. Despite the challenging national economic situation, First Commonwealth managed to increase loans, to open three new branch offices in the Pittsburgh market, and to maintain stable credit quality. Since our beginnings in 1866, we have been committed to stability and strength, making sound, conservative decisions for the benefit of our clients and our corporation, serving people and businesses in our communities with integrity, and especially preparing for changing market conditions. First Commonwealth will continue to focus on earning the right to be the First Choice provider of financial services for our customers, our employees and our shareholders.
