(1) The President and the President-Elect <strong>of</strong> each United States and Canadian domiciled Participating<br />

Organization and the Designees <strong>of</strong> the Mexican domiciled Participating Organizations shall form<br />

the Council <strong>of</strong> Presidents (COP). Mexican representation shall be conducted through Designees<br />

selected by AMA, AMAC, and CONAC from among the President, Past President, and President-<br />

Elect <strong>of</strong> each organization.<br />

Each President or Designee is responsible for implementing the Working Agreement during his<br />

or her term <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice. Each President or Designee shall assure that the goals and terms <strong>of</strong> this<br />

Working Agreement are appropriately communicated to members <strong>of</strong> the Board and to <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />

and staff <strong>of</strong> his or her organization. Each President shall further support the President-Elect <strong>of</strong><br />

that organization in the development <strong>of</strong> the evolution <strong>of</strong> the Working Agreement.<br />

The following mission statement articulates the COP's purpose and objectives:<br />

The COP provides a business and social forum to promote coordination,<br />

cooperation, and trust among the leadership <strong>of</strong> the organizations representing<br />

actuaries in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. In this spirit, the COP shall:<br />

Exchange/share information on significant current activities;<br />

Discuss pr<strong>of</strong>ession-wide issues (not necessarily involving all member<br />

organizations) and, wherever possible, develop an action plan for<br />

addressing those issues, such as<br />

Seek to develop a coordinated vision <strong>of</strong> the future direction <strong>of</strong> the<br />

actuarial pr<strong>of</strong>ession in North America;<br />

Consider international issues from a North American perspective<br />

and, if appropriate, establish joint positions and strategies for<br />

pursuing those positions; and<br />

Serve as a forum to encourage the resolution <strong>of</strong> conflicts between<br />

two or more <strong>of</strong> the member organizations; and<br />

Identify and promote forums, activities, contacts, or events that can broaden<br />

organizational communications among other leaders and members <strong>of</strong> the<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>ession.<br />
