Are you one of the 2,017 alumni who
advocate on behalf of UC San Diego?
Due to significant system-wide budget
cuts, advocacy efforts remain an essential
function of UCSD Alumni, working in partnership
with State and Local Government
Relations at UC San Diego.
Launched in conjunction with the
annual UC Day in Sacramento, the new
advocacy advertising campaign, “Will
UCSD Be There For Me?”, captured 767
alumni advocates with more than 2,352
letters sent to government officials in just
three days. In total, 13 e-advocacy campaigns
generated 13,403 letters to elected
officials with 89 percent of the messages
coming from alumni.
This year, UCSD Alumni launched
Capitol Tritons, a professional network for
alumni working in government, politics
and public policy. This new group, based
in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., will
work closely with UCSD Alumni staff and
board members to increase opportunities
to strengthen the effectiveness of alumni
advocacy efforts.
