UCSD Alumni a closer look at the organization Alumni endowments continue to generate funds for scholarships and innovative programs for deserving students, alumni and the campus community. Since 1995, UCSD Alumni has supported 551 students with $1,137,996 of critically needed, annual scholarships. As of June 30, 2011, market value of UCSD Alumni endowments had reached $5.3 million. Scholarship endowments constitute $3.4 million, representing a $2 million general scholarship endowment and an additional $1.4 million in named or designated scholarship programs. The operating endowment, valued at $1.9 million, consists mainly of gifts made through the UCSD Alumni loyalty program. Financial resources to develop and deliver alumni programs and services are primarily provided by the University to the office of Alumni and Constituent Engagement. The budget is further supported by funds generated by UCSD Alumni. The 2010-11 operating budget was $4 million, of which $623,000 was generated by the organization.
