George Heeley, manager of the Marlboro<br />
in that city for 13 years, has resigned, effective<br />

of the Marlboro, for 26 years and formerly was<br />
located in Lowell. In connection with the<br />
Marlboro post, he also has been manager of<br />
the Shrewsbury Drive-In . Elm Street<br />
held over "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."<br />
Nat King Cole and Sarah Vaughan will<br />
head "The Big Show of 1954" when it comes<br />
to the Auditorium October 13. the third successive<br />

The new drive-in at North Oxford will be<br />
opened April 1. according to its owners,<br />
Stephen Minasian of Somerville and Kachador<br />
Azadian of Arlington. It will accommodate<br />
1,200 cars. The two men, who also conduct<br />
an open-air theatre in Reading, built the<br />
drive-in on 25 acres of land bought from William<br />
Miller of Oxford.<br />
Manager John DiBenedetto of the Poli hit<br />
one of the columns with a different kind of<br />
plug for "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." He<br />
clipped a letter from Esquire magazine, written<br />
by a Worcester man, John Takesian, who<br />
argued that Jane Russell was to be preferred<br />
over Marilyn Monroe. The letter concluded.<br />
"We have girls in Worcester that could make<br />
Marilyn look sick." The magazine titled the<br />
letter. "One Way to Worcester. Please."<br />
DiBenedetto swears he's not Takesian.<br />

T J. "Hymie" Levine, one of Connecticut's<br />
pioneers in the motion picture industry, will<br />
be honored at a dinner to be given in the<br />
Waverly Inn at Cheshire October 7. his 75th<br />
birthday. The affair, sponsored by Variety<br />
Tent 31, is expected to draw several hundred<br />
guests from throughout the state. Sam<br />
Germaine of 20th-Fox is treasurer. Levine Is<br />
the representative of Lippert in this district.<br />
He was with Warner Bros, and other organizations<br />
earlier in his long career.<br />
Henry Germaine, manager for Paramount;<br />
Dick Carroll, the head booker and office<br />

attend a dinner honoring Jack Moore, new<br />

PROVIDENCE<br />
nnthony P. Argenti was due at his home in<br />
this city after a three-month vacation in<br />
Germany. Argenti. drafted into the army in<br />
1942. saw considerable service in Europe. In<br />
1946 when he left the service, he joined the<br />
army motion picture -service as a civilian and<br />
became a film technical advi.ser on such productions<br />
as "Carnival" staiTing Anne Baxter:<br />
"Devil Makes Three." with Gene Kelley and<br />
Pier Angeli. and "Tightrope" with Frederic<br />
March.<br />
The opening of local public and parochial<br />
schools was postponed three weeks due to<br />
an outbreak of infantile paralysis. While<br />
officials sounded warnings against children<br />
being allowed to congregate in public places,<br />
no attempt was made to close local motion<br />
picture houses, which because of air conditioning<br />
and frequent air changing offered a<br />
safe haven of retreat from the heat.<br />
Yma Sumac, Peruvian songstress, will make<br />
her film debut in Producer Mel Epstein's<br />
"Legend of the Inca," a Paramount release.<br />
