Several Manager Shifts<br />

PHOENIX—Arizona Paiainouiit Theatres<br />
has made some per.soniiel changes, Jerry<br />
Freeman has taken over as manager of the<br />
Strand Theatre, replacing Ronald McGlothlin<br />
who resigned to return to the east. Freeman<br />
took his theatre training at the Palms Theatre<br />
In PhoenJx. and was managing the Harry<br />
Nace Theatre in Wickenburg, Ariz., his home,<br />
before being appointed manager at the<br />
Strand.<br />
Bob Lamp is the new manager at the Aero<br />
Theatre. He ha.s only been in the theatre<br />
business for eight weeks, starting as assistant<br />
to Bernard Borane at the Rialto. Before that<br />
he was in the trucking business, but now<br />
combines managing the Aero Theatre with<br />
attending Arizona State college at Tempe.<br />
His wife has been with Arizona Paramount,<br />
working at the Indian-Drive-In, for about<br />
six years.<br />
SEATTLE<br />
. . . Carrol Barney sold his<br />
phi! Blake, recently transferred from the<br />
Universal San Francisco office, has taken<br />
over as office manager and head booker for<br />
the local exchange, replacing Charles Rosemeyer.<br />
who has been named a salesman. The<br />
U-I Phil Blake is not to be confused with<br />
Phil W. Blake who is Seattle manager for<br />
Manley. Inc.<br />

Northwest Releasing Corp. returned from<br />
Hollywood where they attended Lippert<br />

They visited the studios, met screen personalities<br />
and noted new trends, and were guests<br />
of the Victor Matures. "Island in the Sky,"<br />
which opened Tue.sday il5i at the Music<br />
Hall, was the attraction chosen to inaugurate<br />
the theatre's new Magnascope with stereophonic<br />
sound.<br />
Another theatre birthday: The downtown<br />
Embassy, under the ownership and direction<br />
of Joe Danz. was 27 years old last week . . .<br />
A new 3-D Technicolor western. "Devil's Canyon."<br />
is booked for an early showing at the<br />
Paramount . roadshow drama. "Dial<br />
M for Murder." is on the schedule of the Met<br />
for an October run.<br />
The Fix in Cheney reopened Saturday (19i<br />
under the operation of E. W. Landry, who<br />
used to own it and has taken it over again.<br />
