The knowledge that our students acquire in the program should offer them with a wide range of options as to where they wish to pursue their careers, in terms of business and professional areas as well as geographical locality. The program also serves as a strong grounding for those who wish to pursue careers in the public sector, civil society or academia. Structure of the Program The BBA program is designed to be completed in 3 years of intensive weekend studies, and leads to the award of an accredited Czech bachelor's degree from UNYP. The program is aimed at working professionals who need the flexibility of weekend studies. By meeting every other weekend during the academic year, students are able to continue their careers while simultaneously advancing their studies. Program Requirements • Completion of 180 ECTS* credits in the program with a passing grade in all modules and in the Business Project (Thesis) • Passing the State Exams (including a defense of the Business Project) The 180 ECTS credits consist of 27 6-credit modules, plus the Business Project, written in collaboration with an academic advisor and completed over the course of the last year of study, worth 18 credits. *European Credit Transfer System, the system recommended by the European Union's Bologna Process. Modules Each module consists of 40 hours of contact time (lectures, seminars, tutorial meetings). This includes a final time-constrained (3 hour) exam at the end of each module. Schedule Courses meet on an intensive basis every other weekend Friday, 17:00 - 21:00 Saturday, 09:00 - <strong>13</strong>:00, 14:00 - 18:00 Sunday, 09:00 - <strong>13</strong>:00, 14:00 - 18:00 The academic year is divided into 3 terms: Fall, Spring and Summer. Students typically take 3 courses each term, and each term is completed in about 3 months. Consultation with the program's tutor is available yearround. Business Project (Thesis) and State Exams The BBA program is concluded by a Business Project, followed by State Exams. The Final Business Project is a culminating study that allows reflection on the coursework the student has undertaken and integration of that coursework with the world of business. The student undertakes either an internal project with a company (usually the student's workplace or place of internship), or an external project based around research in the field of business. The student undertakes the project under the tutelage of a UNYP instructor. In the case of internal projects, the student also works with a designated supervisor from the company. A defense of the Business Project is part of the State Exams that students sit at the end of the program. Admissions Requirements Admission to the program is competitive. The following is necessary to be considered for admission: • Completed application form, including Motivation Letter • Secondary school/high school diploma (maturita) • English language test* (minimum TOEFL score of 530 written/197 electronic) • Entrance interview with program representative * Other English language test results (such as IELTS, CPE, FCE, SAT, or ACT) may satisfy this requirement. Instructors Over 90 instructors from 15 different countries regularly teach at UNYP. The majority are native English speakers, and represent a considerable wealth of both academic and professional experience.
Educating Tomorrow’s Leaders Library UNYP's library provides study materials for all courses. However, students are encouraged to purchase their own text books and to start their own personal library. These books will stay with you for you entire careers. UNYP students also have access to the ProQuest 5000 International set of online databases from the school's computer labs. UNYP's library is open 7 days a week, and has a study room and a computer lab where students can work on assignments. Options for Further Study Students with accredited Czech bachelor's degrees may apply to postgraduate programs at universities in the Czech Republic and abroad. A progression to an MBA program is quite common for students who have completed their Bachelor's degree. UNYP also offers international MBA and Master's programs that complement the BBA program. Students who complete the UNYP bachelor's program may also choose to continue study for an additional one to one-and-a-half years and be awarded an accredited American bachelor's degree from Empire State College State University of New York. This option would be useful for students who would like to continue with postgraduate studies in the United States. Recognition and Accreditation UNYP is recognized by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as a private higher education institution. The 3-year Business Administration study program was accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education in 2005. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded an accredited Czech Bachelor's (bakalar) degree and the right to use the abbreviations "Bc." before their name. UNYP is also recognized by other official bodies, including the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and the Czech Association of MBA Schools (CAMBAS).
