MeteoGroup Offshore has developed a comprehensive suite of weather
forecast data and operational support services to assist decision
making during marginal weather conditions allowing you to confidently
make the correct go / no-go decisions. In other words, we make
the complex easy to understand and work with, and in the process
enhancing safety and reducing costs.
We also recognise that weather is about more than just a number – our
unique visualisation tools help you contextualise the conditions in
your area of operations and beyond. Additionally, our Aberdeen based
forecasters are available 24/7 to assist and discuss weather issues with
our clients.
Narec has invested over £150 million to create the UK’s national
translational research centre for accelerating the deployment of
offshore renewable energy technologies.
Our multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers operate
some of Europe’s largest translational research, development and
testing facilities for offshore wind, wave, tidal and electrical network
technologies. These facilities address the problems and issues faced
by companies seeking to develop and demonstrate technologies at
large scale in a controlled environment Narec informs the process of
understanding reliability and being able to forecast performance before
plant is built to minimise uncertainty in the market.
This year our 100m Blade Test and 3MW Drive Train Test facilities
opened on time and we successfully installed the Narec Offshore
Anemometry Hub (NOAH) as part of the Blyth Offshore Wind
Demonstration Project.
In 2013, we will bring you our 15MW drive train facility for the
accelerated life testing of next generation offshore wind turbines. The
Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) is investing £25m in the facility, by
providing funding to GE Energy - Power Conversion and MTS Systems
Corporation for the design, development and commissioning of the test
rig. We will be ready for a first client nacelle test in the summer.
