and aids brought to examinations<br />

and to confiscate any text or aid<br />

which is unauthorised.<br />

4. Absence from an Examination<br />

(i) Where a candidate misses an<br />

examination through misreading the<br />

timetable, he/she is not entitled to a<br />

further examination.<br />

(ii) Where a candidate is absent from an<br />

examination due to illness or other<br />

serious cause, the Manager, Student<br />

Administration shall, on receiving<br />

medical evidence or other evidence<br />

within forty-eight hours <strong>of</strong> the<br />

examination, inform the Assistant<br />

Director <strong>of</strong> the CentreDIead <strong>of</strong><br />

Department responsible for the unit<br />

who may grant such further tests as<br />

will permit an assessment <strong>of</strong> the<br />

candidate to be made.<br />

(iii) Disability: a candidate who believes<br />

that hisher performance at an<br />

examination will be affected by a<br />

serious illness during the semester<br />

or by some other cause beyond<br />

hisfiler control and who desires<br />

these circumstances to be taken into<br />

consideration in determining hisher<br />

standing, is required to bring the<br />

circumstances, supported by a<br />

medical certificate or other such<br />

evidence, to the notice <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Manager, Student Administration in<br />

writing before the date <strong>of</strong> the<br />

examination.<br />

(iv) Illness during the examination: a<br />

candidate who attempts an<br />

examination, yet claims that hisher<br />

performance was prejudiced by<br />

sickness or accident on the date <strong>of</strong><br />

the examination must notify the<br />

Supervisor in Charge <strong>of</strong> the<br />

examination immediately after the<br />

examination and submit a medical<br />

certificate to the Manager, Student<br />

Administration within forty-eight<br />

hours <strong>of</strong> the examination.<br />

5. Examination results<br />

(i) No candidate is permitted to<br />

communicate with lecturers<br />

concerning examination results prior<br />

to their publication.<br />

(ii) No information concerning examination<br />

results will be given over the<br />

telephone.<br />

(iii) Results <strong>of</strong> examinations will be<br />

posted on the <strong>of</strong>ficial notice board at<br />

the College.<br />

(iv) Results <strong>of</strong> examinations will be<br />

recorded as follows:<br />

NN Pail<br />

CR Credit<br />

AN Absent Fail<br />

P Pass (Prass/Fail)<br />

WD Withdrawn without penalty<br />

PP Provisional Pass<br />

AA Annually<br />

assessed<br />

DF Deferred<br />

(v) If a candidate's number does not<br />

appear on the <strong>of</strong>ficial notice board<br />

he/she must consult the Student<br />

Administration <strong>of</strong>fice for the <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />

record <strong>of</strong> results.<br />

6. Correspondence and change <strong>of</strong> address<br />

(i) All correspondence should be<br />

directed to the Manager, Student<br />

Administration and students should<br />

quote their student number.<br />

(ii) Students are required to notify the<br />

Manager, Student Administration <strong>of</strong><br />

any change in their address as soon<br />

as possible. The College does not<br />

accept any responsibility for <strong>of</strong>ficial<br />

communications which fail to reach a<br />

student or a student who has not<br />

notified the Manager, Student<br />

Administration <strong>of</strong> change <strong>of</strong> address.<br />

i. Applications - Consideration and special<br />

examinations<br />

1.1 Application for special consideration<br />

or admission to a special<br />

examination shall reach the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong><br />

the SI'B within 72 hours <strong>of</strong> the<br />

examination. Such applications will<br />

be accepted only on the appropriate<br />

form and should be sent to:<br />

1.1.1 A candidate who applies on<br />

medical grounds for special<br />

consideration or a special<br />

examination shall submit an<br />

application and medical<br />
