Fresh off <strong>the</strong> back of SXSW and a headline <strong>to</strong>ur of<br />

<strong>the</strong> USA, Clairy Browne & <strong>the</strong> Bangin’ Rackettes,<br />

roll in<strong>to</strong> New Plymouth with a rousing and<br />

rambunctious concoction of soul, surf and rhythm<br />

n’ blues, ideally matched <strong>to</strong> blow your socks off!<br />

2013 has already been a mammoth year for <strong>the</strong><br />

band, following <strong>the</strong> prodigious success of <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

debut album, Baby Caught <strong>the</strong> Bus reaching number<br />

66 on <strong>the</strong> US iTunes charts, and <strong>the</strong>ir single Love<br />

Letter featuring in a hugely popular Heineken ad. In<br />

February, <strong>the</strong> band was signed <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> prestigious<br />

Vanguard label, followed by a twenty-six s<strong>to</strong>p<br />

North American <strong>to</strong>ur from Arizona <strong>to</strong> Alabama.<br />

Their live show is an immersive experience from<br />

<strong>to</strong>ugh, hip hop tinged soul, <strong>to</strong> heart-wrenching<br />

doo-wop, all delivered with Clairy’s big soul<br />

voice, <strong>the</strong> Rackettes lush vocal harmonies,<br />

huge horns and a forceful rhythm section.<br />

Supremo jazz trombonist, Rodger Fox has led<br />

his nationally recognised big band, for 40 years,<br />

featuring <strong>the</strong> cream of <strong>the</strong> capital city’s jazz talent.<br />

Sizzling ensemble playing, stunning soloists and<br />

<strong>the</strong> desire <strong>to</strong> give people a good time through<br />

music - this is <strong>the</strong> Welling<strong>to</strong>n Jazz Orchestra.<br />

Celebrating <strong>the</strong> musical his<strong>to</strong>ry of Rodger Fox, his<br />

legendary big band celebrates its 40th anniversary<br />

with a very special concert featuring <strong>the</strong> superb<br />

vocalists David Feehan and Erna Ferry.<br />

With <strong>the</strong> <strong>full</strong> big band sound and 19 musicians on<br />

stage, playing <strong>the</strong> music that made <strong>the</strong> big band<br />

unique when it first assembled at <strong>the</strong> Welling<strong>to</strong>n<br />

Musicians Clubrooms in 1973, this will be a hot<br />

and night of jazz at <strong>the</strong> Mayfair Festival Club.<br />
