AROUND TARANAKI
Halls in Okato, Hawera, Opunake, Inglewood,
Patea, Waitara, Kakaramea, Pihama, Urenui,
Toko and Norfolk will be brushed with colour
and intrigue during the arts festival as five
very different shows tour the region.
WOMAD 2013 crowd pleasers AHoriBuzz return to
Taranaki to bring their unique blend of psychedelic
funk and rock to Waitara. Inglewood Hall will revisit
its glory days with big band music by Jazz supremo
Rodger Fox and companions. Rugby fans and
theatre lovers alike will enjoy an enchanting peek
into the heart, mind and life of an extraordinary
man and sporting colossus – George Nepia. And
a play (Party with the Aunties) that is more like
going to a party than the theatre will have you
laughing raucously and giggling for days! And
some girls from down on the farm will delight
you with their music and their hilarious romp
around the kennels telling a dog’s tale (tail) of life
on a farm (The Bitches Box and Mel Parsons).

Born out of a dream and desire to provide rural
audiences with a chance to experience a truly
unique night out, singer songwriter Mel Parsons, and
actresses Amelia Guild and Emma Newborn, created
this fast-paced and hilarious romp around the
kennels telling a dog’s tale (tail) of life on a farm. This
show has toured the length and breadth of the South
Island, sometimes venturing off the beaten track to
transform local wool-sheds into dynamic theatres.
