JOHN SUHLER, a founding
partner in the investment
firm Veronis Suhler
Stevenson (VSS), retired
at the end of 2012 and was
named chairman emeritus
of the company. VSS has
made investments over the
years in various exhibition
organizers and B-to-B
media companies, including
Hanley Wood, Advanstar
Communications, Canon
Communications, and
Clarion Events. His legacy
includes more than 700
transactions representing
over $35 billion in value.
During his time at VSS,
the firm raised over $3.1
billion in committed
capital and invested in
over 70 companies, with
another 320 add-on
acquisitions. Suhler, 69,
will continue to represent
VSS at communications
industry events and run a
family investment fund in
