Master Chefs Kitchen Rules!
The Year 7 Foods class have
stepped up to the plate and made
delicious pizza subs with healthy
toppings. The Year 7.3 class are
enjoying the taste sensation of
their own pizza subs.
Year 12 2AB students created a
dish using locally sourced products
mainly coconut and mango as the
main ingredient. Attention was given
to taste and appearance when
serving the dishes.
Year 8.2 Science investigated the
single cell and created their own
model using a cake, some icing as
cytoplasm and food additive reduced
lollies for organelles. This was one
science experiment we could all eat!
Leadership and study skills seminar
A Leadership and Study Skills Seminar was
held for our Upper School students at Notre
Dame University early in Term One. The
purpose of the day was to reflect on what it
means to be a St Mary's College role model, to
consider ways of displaying leadership on
campus and within the Broome community and
to design a study schedule and prioritise
commitments.
During the seminar the students participated in
passive and active learning through
undertaking various cooperative learning tasks
that were delivered by a range of presenters.
They also undertook a leadership pledge
whereby each student committed to a) work
with other students to build a Christian learning
community, b) commit to serve the College
community generously and without fear or
favour, and c) encourage fellow students to
observe College regulations and resist peer
pressure to misbehave.
We considered various styles of leadership, how to be a good listener and the notion of leadership as a service to
others. The 2013 Leadership and Study Skills days were a great success and will hopefully these Leadership Days
will become an annual event.
