Year 6 Fundraising Disco
Fundraising for Project Compassion
On Friday March 22 nd Year 6 organised a school disco to
raise money for Caritas Project Compassion.
It was a great experience for the Year 6 students to raise
money for charity. The Year 6 students put in a lot of effort.
We couldn’t have done it without the approval of Mrs Margaret
Valentine and all the help from the parents and teachers. At
first while decorating it looked like the disco had already
ended but as we improved with our decorating skills it looked
fantastic.
Some people had cameras and were filming people dancing.
A lot of people thought this was great. This encouraged
people to dance more. Some children were screaming and
playing chasey but this was handled well by the speakers on
stage and it stopped immediately. We got great comments
from children about the music played on the night of the disco.
People wore some very fancy clothes, there was a fair bit of
makeup seen and there was also a lot of bling.
In the lower primary group, the best dancer was Marley
Weeding PPS and also the best dressed was Lulu Smith PPE.
For the upper group the best dressed was Holy Newton from
5E and the best dancer was Lydon McKenna from 4S.
Congratulations to the winners!
In the end we raised just over $2000. That is an amazing
achievement for St Mary’s!
Overall the disco was a fun night enjoyed by lots of students
and guests who attended. Thank you to all the people who
made this night happen.
Year 12 Perth Perspectives Art Exhibition
Year 12 students studying 3A/B Visual Art travelled to Perth on
Sunday March 17 th to view the Perspectives Exhibition at the WA
National Gallery. The students participated in an Art Analysis
workshop then viewed the Photography of New York from
MOMA, and spent time in the Perspectives Exhibition. The
students were able to experience first-hand the high level of Art
that is expected in this course. Also the students realised that
seeing original work is so different from looking at a reproduction
in a book.
