Term 1 Primary Campus
Sacrament of First Reconciliation
On Saturday March 23rd, twenty three young students,
eighteen from St Mary’s College, gathered to celebrate the
sacrament of First Reconciliation. In the weeks prior to the
celebration students were prepared for this sacrament by
Father Matt, Father Ernesto, parents and class teachers.
The preparation included students interpreting Gospel
stories such as The Prodigal Son and The Lost Sheep, role
playing what forgiveness is and discussing why confession
brings us closer to God. A big thank you to the parents
who helped prepare their child at this special time and
assisted with the morning tea.
Literacy on the Primary Campus
On Thursday, April 4 th the K – 3 students were fortunate to have
a guest to present their book packages from “Books in Homes.”
Mr Brenton McKenna who is a former St Mary’s College student
and now a published graphic novelist came and spoke to the
students and helped present the books to the classes. Mr
McKenna also explained how he worked on drawing his
characters for his stories as well as answering many interesting
questions from the students. The Year 3 students were
particularly keen to talk about Mr McKenna’s novel, “Ubby’s
Underdogs.”

“Books in Homes” which has been sponsored by Catholic
Education, clearly promotes the love of reading and ultimately,
much improved literacy skills.
