Swimming Lessons 2013
Students in Pre Primary to Year 3 participated in In Term
Swimming Lessons during Weeks 2 to 6 of Term 1.
Years 2 and 3 were first off the block with their lessons in
Weeks 2 and 3 and then the Pre-Primary and Year 1
students attended their lessons from Weeks 5-7. Due to
inclement weather the Pre-Primary and Year 1 students
missed out on a few lessons but Broome Recreation and
Aquatic Centre (BRAC) were kind enough to make up the
lessons.
On the first day of the swimming lessons students were
grouped according to their swimming level and their
swimming levels were assessed. During the lessons
students gained self-confidence entering the water
safely. Students in levels1and 2 learnt to swim in the
lagoon and then gradually moved to the lane pool where
they learnt to glide, float, kick and use their freestyle
arms to swim to their instructor. In the lane pool students
learnt to enter the water safely and how to find the edge
of the pool if they were to fall in. Levels 3-7 focused on
the students’ swimming technique and endurance.
Overall the In Term Swimming Lessons were a huge
success and acknowledge the instructors Miss Sonja,
Miss Anielle, Miss Rizz and Mr Neil for their expertise in
this important and enjoyable program.
