JOURNEY OF THE ICON AND CROSS.
WORLD YOUTH DAY , SYDNEY 2008.
Icon and Cross leaving One Mile Community
Primary School students at the Cross
When the Icon and the Cross arrived in Broome on June, a group of
St Mary’s College staff and students joined parishioners and community
members to walk with, and to help carry the Icon and Cross into
Broome. The procession started from the One Mile Community,
through Chinatown, up Kennedy Hill to the Prison, before moving to
the Cathedral for the official welcome to Broome.
A liturgy was held at the Senior Campus to welcome the Icon and
Cross to St Mary’s College. The Icon and Cross was carried to the
Primary Campus and erected in the Holy Place where classes gathered
for reflection.
