Penny Gilbert, MSN. MBA, BSN, RN, CPHQ<br />
Penny Gilbert, MSN, MBA, BSM, RN, CPHQ is the Director, Admission Coordination Center,<br />
Case Management, Social Services, & the Transport Team at Baptist Health-Lexington, a 383-<br />
bed Magnet® re-designated facility in Lexington, <strong>Kentucky</strong>. She is also the Director for Case<br />
Management, Social Services & Palliative Care at Baptist Health-Richmond, in Richmond, KY.<br />
She is the recipient of the <strong>2014</strong> Platinum Award for Discharge Planning (Honorable Mention).<br />
Previously she has worked in hospital quality, during this time she obtained her certification as<br />
a professional in healthcare quality (CPHQ). Prior to this she was the North America Director,<br />
Clinical Consulting Division for the Hill-Rom Co. global office located in Batesville, IN, working<br />
internationally with healthcare organizations in Canada, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.<br />
She received her MBA, graduating Summa Cum Laude and received her MSN through Kaplan<br />
University in June <strong>2014</strong>. She has been in nursing for approximately 25 years and has the distinct<br />
honor of publishing with the University Medical Center Princeton, Princeton, N.J., while working<br />
directly with multiple Ivy League organizations (New York Presbyterian Hospital; Medical Center<br />
Princeton University; and Harvard Medical Center). During this time she worked with various<br />
healthcare organizations to build effective teams resulting in optimal patient safety outcomes.<br />
Her most recent publication was made through the Journal of Managed Care addressing the<br />
topic of 30-day readmissions.<br />
