Georgia held Kentucky scoreless for the first eight minutes of the
game and rolled to a 72-40 victory over the Wildcats in the Southeastern
Conference Tournament Quarterfinals in The Arena at
Gwinnett Center.
Kentucky shot 20 percent (12-of-60) from the field, a record low
for the SEC Tournament. UK missed its first 14 shots from the field
and trailed 12-0 when Elliott finally scored on a follow shot with 12
minutes left in the first half. The Wildcats shot just 16.1 percent
from the field for the half, making only 5-of-31 attempts.
Sophomore point guard Carly Ormerod led Kentucky with 14
points but fouled out with 5:18 left to play. No other Wildcat scored
in double figures and Jennifer Humphrey did not score for only the
second time this season. Georgia led 38-18 at halftime and
stretched its lead to 27 points at 47-20 early in the second half.

Senior Kentucky guard Jenny Pfeiffer scored a game-high 21
points, including five three-pointers, and the Wildcats used a strong
second-half defensive performance to turn back stingy Oakland,
65-56, in the WNIT first round in the O’Rena.
The Wildcats led the Golden Grizzlies by four, 43-39, with 11:09
remaining in the game before Kentucky began employing a match-up
zone that stifled the Oakland offense. From there, the Cats used a 12-
2 run midway through the final period to go up 55-41 with 6:38 left.
Oakland would not go away, shrinking a 15-point Kentucky
advantage (60-45) with 3:33 remaining down to six points, 60-54,
with 52 seconds left. The Wildcats, however, made 5-of-6 clutch
free-throws in the game’s final minute to secure the win.
Pfeiffer, who tied her season high with five treys, was one of
three Kentucky players to score in double figures. Junior guard
Samantha Mahoney, in a return to her home state, scored 14
points, while junior center Sarah Elliott, who was forced to miss
practice time due to a sore back, added 12 points and three blocks.
Chant Bowman came up with a career-high four steals.
Senior forward/center Jennifer Humphrey, who was sidelined for
much of the first half with foul trouble, came on strong in the second
half with a game-high 10 rebounds to complement eight points and
three assists. Humphrey also made 6-of-8 free throws for the game.

Junior Kentucky center Sarah Elliott scored 14 of her team-high
18 points in the second half Monday and the Wildcats made
7-of-11 free throws in the game’s final two minutes to hold off Ball
State for an 85-82 win in Worthen Arena in the second round of the
Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
Kentucky, which led by as many as 12 points in the game and
was up 78-69 with 3:21 remaining, watched its lead dwindle to four
points, 81-77, with 26 seconds remaining in the game. Junior guard
Samantha Mahoney added a pair of free-throws on the ensuing
possession before Ball State’s Kelsey Corbin and Julie Demuth
combined for three free throws to whittle UK’s advantage down to
three, 83-80, with 20 seconds left.
After a free-throw by senior guard Jenny Pfeiffer, who was making
a final return to her home state, Demuth drove in for a lay-up to
make it a two-point game at the seven-second mark. Mahoney was
instantly fouled and made one of her charity shots, but time expired
before the Cardinals could get off a last-second shot.
The Wildcats, who shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor,
committed a season-low seven turnovers in the game. UK was
forced to play the final 7:03 without senior forward/center Jennifer
Humphrey, who fouled out. Humphrey finished with a team-high
nine rebounds and surpassed Valerie Still for the most rebounds by
a senior in a single season in school history.
Sophomore point guard Carly Ormerod became just the eighth
player in Kentucky history to chart a points-assists double-double.
She finished with 13 points and a career-high 11 assists, while
committing only one turnover.

Wisconsin out-rebounded Kentucky 54-35 and held a 28-10 advantage
in second-chance points to end the Wildcats’ season with a 67-61
win in the third round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
Kentucky allowed 25 offensive rebounds and the Badgers shot
78.8 percent (26-of-33) from the free-throw line. The Wildcats held
Wisconsin to 30.6 percent shooting (19-of-62), while the Cats shot
81 percent (17-of-21) from the charity stripe.
Junior guard Samantha Mahoney led the Wildcats in scoring with
13 points, while sophomore point guard Carly Ormerod and junior
center Sarah Elliott finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Senior forward/center Jennifer Humphrey led the Wildcats on the
boards with 10 rebounds and also tied a career high with four blocks.
Wisconsin, which led for the majority of the game, trailed 55-54
with 3:01 remaining before going on a 7-0 run to expand its lead to
62-55 with 1:03 left in the game. Kentucky got as close as five, 64-
59, with 49 seconds remaining, but was unable to close the gap.
