Administrative Support<br />
Associate<br />
Stephanie Aschmann enters her second year<br />
with the UK <strong>Athletics</strong> Association as the administrative<br />
support associate for women’s basketball.<br />
Aschmann is responsible for the day-to-day<br />
schedules <strong>of</strong> the coaches, and their charitable<br />
activities and public appearances. She also develops<br />
and coordinates events for coaches, players,<br />
alumnae, boosters and fans. Her duties also<br />
include maintaining the women’s basketball<br />
recruiting database and assisting with daily administrative<br />
operations in the basketball <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />
Aschmann, 26, came to UK in October 2006<br />
after serving as the executive director <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Makenna Foundation, a non-pr<strong>of</strong>it organization<br />
that helps raise funds to make the <strong>Kentucky</strong> Children’s<br />
Hospital a benchmark <strong>of</strong> children’s hospitals<br />
by providing the necessary equipment and<br />
assisting in hospital expansion.<br />
Prior to the Makenna Foundation,<br />
Aschmann was the executive director <strong>of</strong> the Bluegrass<br />
Tennis Association, where she promoted<br />
tennis in central <strong>Kentucky</strong> by coordinating<br />
fundraisers, programs and tournaments.<br />
The Abbeville, La., native is very active in<br />
community service, serving as a member <strong>of</strong> several<br />
charitable organizations. Aschmann earned her<br />
bachelor’s degree at UK in secondary education<br />
social studies in 2003 and is currently a nondegree<br />
seeking business student at UK.<br />
Beth Davis<br />
Administrative Assistant<br />
Women’s Basketball<br />
Beth Davis is in her sixth year at <strong>Kentucky</strong>,<br />
her second as administrative assistant in the<br />
women’s basketball <strong>of</strong>fice. Her duties include<br />
organizing summer camps, helping with the<br />
booster club, organizing male practice players, and<br />
day-to-day <strong>of</strong>fice operations.<br />
Davis, from Hazard, Ky., served as a team<br />
manager for the UK Hoops team for fours years,<br />
earning the head manager title for three consecutive<br />
seasons.<br />
She graduated from <strong>Kentucky</strong> in May 2006<br />
with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and<br />
plans to graduate in December with a master’s<br />
degree in sport leadership.<br />
Davis is a 2002 graduate <strong>of</strong> Perry County<br />
Central High School where she was a four-year<br />
letter winner in basketball and three-year letter<br />
winner in s<strong>of</strong>tball.<br />
Susan Lax<br />
Associate Media<br />
Relations Director<br />
Susan Lax is in her 11th season with the <strong>University</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Kentucky</strong>, her seventh as Associate<br />
Director <strong>of</strong> Media Relations. In addition to coordinating<br />
all publicity efforts for the women’s basketball<br />
team, she assists with public relations<br />
duties for the Wildcat football team.<br />
Lax was promoted to associate director after<br />
serving as the department’s assistant director for<br />
four years. The Murray, Ky., native joined the<br />
UK staff in 1997 after spending two years as the<br />
assistant media relations director at Murray State<br />
while attending graduate school. Several <strong>of</strong> Lax’s<br />
publications have won awards from the College<br />
<strong>of</strong> Sports Information Directors Association<br />
(CoSIDA).<br />
Lax graduated from Freed-Hardeman <strong>University</strong><br />
in Henderson, Tenn., where she was a<br />
three-year letter winner for the Lady Lions tennis<br />
team. She graduated in 1995 with a bachelor’s<br />
degree in communications with an<br />
emphasis in public relations.<br />
She is a member <strong>of</strong> CoSIDA (College Sports<br />
Information Directors <strong>of</strong> America), FWA (Football<br />
Writers Assocation, and USBWA (United<br />
States Basketball Writers Association).<br />
Tricia Matysak<br />
Senior Athletic Trainer<br />
Tricia Matysak is in her fourth season at <strong>Kentucky</strong><br />
as the women’s basketball athletic trainer.<br />
Her secondary responsibilities are women’s golf,<br />
rifle and volleyball. She also oversees all women’s<br />
health issues and protocols for all sports.<br />
A native <strong>of</strong> Knox, Ind., Matysak has over 10<br />
years <strong>of</strong> experience in the athletic training field.<br />
She came to the Bluegrass State from Notre<br />
Dame, where she spent four seasons as the men’s<br />
soccer and men’s and women’s lacrosse athletic<br />
trainer. She also assisted with the Fighting Irish<br />
football team and other Olympic sports while also<br />
