B. Introduction of Environment Project<br />

The second characteristic of this curriculum is the full-scale introduction of<br />

“environment project,” meaning that the environment course must have a practical<br />

basis. In the new curriculum, “environment project” covers the entire education<br />

curriculum. For this purpose, it proceeds all other chapters. Putting “environment<br />

project” into practice is strongly recommended in textbooks and field education.<br />

C. Strengthening a Comprehensive Approach to Environmental<br />

Problems<br />

The environmental problem is not a problem of the environment only. We all<br />

know that when we are looking at environmental problems, we need to synthetically<br />

understand all the factors that interact with the environment. But the former<br />

“environment” curriculum was insufficient for representing this kind of synthetic<br />

approach. But the concept of green growth is a response to the climate change and<br />

depletion of energy and resources caused by the overconsumption of energy and<br />

resources for economic and social activities. Therefore, it is a concept that must be<br />

approached comprehensively because it concerns many factors other than just the<br />

environment. Hence, this new curriculum accentuates the relationship among<br />

environment, society and economy in the first major chapter. Here, human activities,
