taking up the position of Executive Director. She<br />

brings with her a wealth of experience on education<br />

reforms and girls’ and women’s issues and has led a<br />

multi-sectoral, national approach to child protection.<br />

Dolores Dickson, Executive Director, <strong>Camfed</strong> Ghana<br />

the £1 billion 800th Anniversary Campaign. She has<br />

several years’ previous experience at Stanford University’s<br />

Institute for Research on Women and Gender, and<br />

Alumni Association. Laura has also taught women’s<br />

writing at the University of Wales, Lampeter, and at the<br />

University of East Anglia, UK, where she earned her<br />

PhD in English. Laura is a graduate of Smith College, a<br />

women’s undergraduate institution in Northampton,<br />

Massachusetts, and has had a lifelong interest in the<br />

education and empowerment of girls and women.<br />

Brooke Hutchinson, Executive Director, <strong>Camfed</strong> USA<br />

Dolores Dickson leads the Ghana program. Dolores<br />

has international aid experience at UN Headquarters in<br />

New York, and coordinated the Ghana charity, African<br />

Education Aid. She also conducted socio-economic<br />

research for the UN advisory committee for Guinea<br />

Bissau. Dolores completed an MA in Development<br />

Studies at the University of Manchester in 2004 and<br />

worked at the British Red Cross Society in the UK. Since<br />

her appointment as Executive Director, the Ghana<br />

program has grown substantially in reach and influence<br />

and high-level dialogue with the Ministry of Education<br />

is securing replication of <strong>Camfed</strong>’s strategies.<br />

Laura Donohue, Director of Development,<br />

<strong>Camfed</strong> International<br />

Brooke Hutchinson holds a BA in Anthropology and<br />

Biology from the University of Colorado and an MPhil<br />

in Biological Anthropology from the University of<br />

Cambridge. Brooke was motivated to work in the field of<br />

girls’ education after studying in Kenya and conducting<br />

research on child growth stunting in the Gambia,<br />

witnessing firsthand the direct impact of mothers’<br />

educational levels on child and family health. Brooke<br />

joined <strong>Camfed</strong> International in July 2004, and went<br />

on to establish <strong>Camfed</strong> USA’s office in San Francisco<br />

in 2006, which now leads <strong>Camfed</strong> communications<br />

internationally.<br />

Laura Donohue joined <strong>Camfed</strong> in April 2009, from the<br />

University of Cambridge Development Office, where<br />

she led the fundraising projects operation as part of<br />
