D. The Competition and the Competitors<br />

341 Requirements of the Competitors<br />

341.1 Age Categories<br />

341.1.1 The FIS competition year is July 1 st - June 30 th of the following year.<br />

341.1.2 Seniors (ladies and men) must be at least 21 years old during the calendar<br />

year (01.01.-31.12.). The right to start begins with the beginning of the<br />

competition season (e.g. for 2013 from 1 st July 2012 onwards).<br />

341.1.3 Junior ladies and junior men must be no older than 20 during the calendar<br />

year (01.01.-31.12.). Years of birth for juniors from 2013 on<br />

- in 2013, competitors born in 1993 and younger<br />

- in 2014, competitors born in 1994 and younger<br />

- in 2015, competitors born in 1995 and younger<br />

- in 2016, competitors born in 1996 and younger<br />

- in 2017, competitors born in 1997 and younger<br />

- etc<br />

U23 ladies and U23 men must be no older than 23 during the calendar<br />

year (01.01.-31.12.). Years of birth for U23 from 2013 on:<br />

- in 2013, competitors born in 1990 and younger<br />

- in 2014, competitors born in 1991 and younger<br />

- in 2015, competitors born in 1992 and younger<br />

- in 2016, competitors born in 1993 and younger<br />

- in 2017, competitors born in 1994 and younger<br />

- etc<br />

341.1.4 Junior ladies and junior men should normally start in their own classes.<br />

They may start in the respective ladies or men’s classes.<br />

341.1.5 At WSC there are no age limits, but at the JWSC and U23 WSC, article<br />

341.1.3 applies.<br />

341.2 FIS Points System<br />

341.2.1 The FIS Points are used particularly for establishing the qualification for<br />

OWG, WSC and World Cup competitions, grouping and start list creation<br />

(see: World Cup rules and Rules and Guidelines of the FIS Points available<br />

on the FIS Website).<br />

342 Medical Examinations<br />

342.1 State of Health<br />

342.1.1 The National Associations are responsible for the health of the competitors<br />

they enter. The Chief of medical and rescue service will only carry out a<br />

medical examination at the request of the competitor’s Team Captain,<br />

competitor or the representative of the FIS Medical Committee (see article<br />

221).<br />
