the chief of competition in consultation with the TD, giving particular attention<br />

to the following<br />

- technique control, if any<br />

- completion of the entire competition course without shortcuts<br />

- completion of the entire competition on skis marked as required by the<br />

Organiser (seeded competitors must comply with article 343.11, all<br />

others are allowed to change one ski during the competition)<br />

- ensuring any support or assistance given competitors is in accordance<br />

with the <strong>ICR</strong><br />

- compliance with <strong>ICR</strong> commercial markings regulations<br />

- providing a competition course free from obstructions<br />

- ensuring competitors do not obstruct or hinder one another<br />

- control at sprint positions and finish line<br />

- other control aspects as required.<br />

385.1.2 Controllers should be qualified to perform their assigned duties.<br />

386 Medical and Safety<br />

386.1 Chief of Medical and Rescue Service<br />

386.1.1 A chief of medical and rescue service will be appointed for every PCCC.<br />

He will be a member of the Competition Committee, and may be invited to<br />

attend the Jury meetings. The chief of medical and rescue service must be<br />

a licensed medical officer.<br />

386.1.2 First Aid and Medical Service<br />

386.2 Planning<br />

The first aid and medical services must be completely operational during<br />

all training times. Details of the Medical Support Requirements are given<br />

in chapter 1 of the FIS Medical Guide containing Medical Rules and<br />

Guidelines.<br />

386.2.1 The medical officer shall prepare an emergency first aid, evacuation, and<br />

notification plan for injuries, accidents, or deaths. Information regarding<br />

this plan and procedures to be followed in the event of inJury, accident, or<br />

death should be provided to participants and competition officials.<br />

386.3 Training<br />

386.3.1 The medical officer shall designate, inform and train a sufficient number of<br />

medical, safety and emergency personnel to provide for the safety and<br />

medical needs of the competitors.<br />

386.4 First Aid Stations<br />

386.4.1 The location of first aid stations shall be marked by appropriate signs along<br />

the course. There shall be heated first aid stations in the start and finish<br />

areas.<br />
