New District Executive<br />
Please w elcome Todd McDonald, <strong>the</strong><br />
new district executive for Wapiti<br />
District. McDonald is know n for his<br />
involvement in summer camp. He<br />
helped reopen Camp Cooper in 1989,<br />
opened Cub World in 1991, and most<br />
recently directed Camp Meriw e<strong>the</strong>r. For<br />
you Cub Scouters, you w ill see him this<br />
summer at Cub World. McDonald is an<br />
Eagle Scout from Castle Rock, WA, and<br />
a fa<strong>the</strong>r of a Tiger Cub and new Boy<br />
Scout. Look for him at committee<br />
meetings and unit meetings as he w orks<br />
his w ay around <strong>the</strong> district getting to<br />
know everyone.<br />
Camping for Cub Scouts<br />
All dens and packs should sign up for a<br />
camping adventure at one of <strong>the</strong> three<br />
outstanding Cub Scout resident camps.<br />
Cub World, Butte Creek, and Adventure<br />
Cove offer exciting programs that are<br />
safe, creative and educational. Don’t<br />
forget to register for day camp for<br />
youths not ready for an overnight<br />
experience. The sessions are filling up,<br />
so reserve your space now . The deadline<br />
is <strong>Mar</strong>ch 15.<br />
Training<br />
Every job is easier w hen <strong>the</strong> expectations,<br />
tools and resources available to<br />
do <strong>the</strong> job correctly are know n. Serving<br />
as a Scouting volunteer shouldn’t be any<br />
different. The Wapiti District offers a<br />
variety of training opportunities. Please<br />
refer to <strong>the</strong> calendar for training dates.<br />

Spring Product Sale<br />
This sale offers a great opportunity for<br />
Scouts to earn extra funds for summer<br />
camp, uniform parts, or o<strong>the</strong>r important<br />
Scouting items. It is one of <strong>the</strong> easiest<br />
sells because <strong>the</strong>re is no overhead for<br />
units and units can earn up to 32%<br />
profit. Individuals may also sign up and<br />

FOS Turn-ins<br />
The family FOS timeline targets <strong>Mar</strong>ch<br />
roundtable for completion. If any unit is<br />
struggling to make that date, please contact<br />
Todd McDonald. Thanks to all<br />
those volunteers helping w ith this year’s<br />
campaign and especially to those w ho<br />
have chosen to put <strong>the</strong> BSA in <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
giving plans for 2006.<br />
Spring Recruiting<br />
Hundreds of families w ithin Wapiti<br />
District community w ould like to learn<br />
more about Scouting and how it can<br />
benefit <strong>the</strong>ir children. Each unit should<br />
provide an opportunity this spring to<br />
invite families and friends to learn more<br />
about <strong>the</strong> adventure of Scouting. Pro-<br />

Attend Roundtable<br />
Get helpful information. Talk w ith<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r leaders and share stories, challenges<br />
and successes. Roundtable occurs<br />
monthly on <strong>the</strong> second Thursday at<br />
7:30 p.m. at <strong>the</strong> Tigard LDS Chapel at<br />
20200 SW <strong>Mar</strong>tinazzi, Tualatin. Leaders<br />
arrive a few minutes early to pick up<br />
materials from <strong>the</strong> resource table. At<br />
7:30 p.m. <strong>the</strong>re is an opening ceremony,<br />
follow ed w ith breakouts for Boy Scout<br />
and Cub Scout leaders. There is ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />
breakout hosted by Todd McDonald<br />
and Don Glazier for unit committee<br />
people to discuss unit level priorities.<br />
