Arnold celebrated Mass. After a school tour,
the group then enjoyed a reception and
dinner in the Campus Theatre’s Cavello
Center. The reunion committee included
Mark Batcheck, Chris Harvey, Mark
Klingler, Dave Lawler and Lou Pallay.
Class of 1985 gathered for its 20-year
anniversary Aug. 26-27. As part of its
weekend activities, the class pledged nearly
$25,000 for a scholarship endowment in the
name of the Class of 1985. Classmates
began their celebration by attending St.
Charles’ opening home football game
against Briggs and going to Plank’s Café
afterward. There was a golf outing Saturday
morning at the Phoenix G.C. and Fr.
Bill Arnold celebrated a class Mass that
afternoon in Mother of Mercy Chapel. The
group took a school tour and enjoyed a
reception and dinner catered by Lindey’s
Restaurant in the Campus Theatre’s
Cavello Center. The reunion committee
included Mike Creedon, Hal Epler, Vince
Fabro, Alan Gummer, Dave Hayes, Mike
Jarosi, Mike Kletzly, Bill Misfud, Neal
Roberts, Kevin Schockling, and Bill
Turner.
Class of 1995 celebrated its 10-year
anniversary Sept. 30-Oct. 1. It began with
a stag event Friday evening at Plank’s Café
followed the next morning by a round of
golf at Mentel Memorial G.C. (Formerly the
Airport G.C.). Classmates and their guests
met that evening for dinner at Buca
di Beppo Restaurant in the downtown
Arena District. The reunion committee
included Damion Clifford, Matt Baehr, Dan
Clark, Andrew Hanrahan, Kevin Ryan and
Brian White.
Devoted to St. Charles community
Fr. Bill Arnold ’70 gave a “state of the school”
presentation at the ’85 Class Reunion last August. The
former St. Charles faculty member (1979-1985 and 1992-
1996) and current member of the St. Charles Advisory
Board is pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Dover, Ohio, a
more than 2 ½ hour drive from Columbus.
Fr. Arnold remains fiercely devoted to St. Charles
and its students and graduates. Despite the distance and
drive time, he was celebrant for three class reunion
Masses and presided over several weddings this
summer in Mother of Mercy Chapel. And he’s a regular
at Advisory Board meetings. Thank you Father!

2000 team at Alumni Softball tourney
As part of its 5-year reunion activities, the Class of 2000
fielded a team that competed in the 2005 Alumni

Alumni Softball Tourney
Held Saturday, August 6, 2005, at St.
Charles, the annual tournament drew more
than 50 players. A team of graduates from
the classes of 1991-92-94-96 won the
tournament championship. Under sunny
skies, grads played a round-robin format
and enjoyed a picnic lunch and camaraderie.

Anniversary Class
Other classes celebrating reunions this
year: 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976,
1981,1986,1991,1996, and 2001
St. Charles has scheduled a single Class
Reunion Weekend (August 18-19) for all
the school’s classes marking anniversaries
in 2006. Participating classes can enjoy
celebrating in the beautiful new Robert C.
Walter Student Commons, which is being
constructed in tandem with the new
Student Services & Fine Arts Center in
the north courtyard. The expansive open
area will be ideal for the first combined
alumni reunion weekend.
Classes will schedule their own Friday
night and Saturday morning activities. All
will meet on campus Saturday afternoon
for campus tours; an all-class Mass in
Mother of Mercy Chapel; a “state of the
school” presentation by principal Dominic
J. Cavello in the Walter Student Commons;
and the option for each class to remain
their for dinner (each class seated together
in separate, designated areas). Reunion
committees met on December 1 and
classmates in reunion classes will receive
a letter in the next month asking for their
feedback.

Alumni Golf Outing was
great success
Our thanks to the 114 St. Charles alumni
and friends who helped make the 2005
Alumni Golf Outing at Champions Golf
Course a huge success. The noon scramble
event held Sunday, October 2, treated
players to golf, refreshments, prizes, and a
steak dinner.
Two foursomes finished with matching
scores of -12 under par. According to
tournament rules, “All ties will be broken
by going back to the No. 1 handicap hole
and comparing score cards. If a tie remains,
the No. 2 handicap hole will be
used, and so on.” After going all the way to
the fifth handicap hole, the group of Dave
Driver ’77, Kevin Clay ’77, Tim Krauss ’77
and Ed Perrini was declared the winner.
The group of Eric Horvath ’92, John
Morgan ’92, Chris Reyes ’92 and Jeff
Schultz finished as runners-up.
