arrived from Boller’s estate, designated
toward the scholarship fund the Class of
1963 initiated two summers ago as part of
its 40-year reunion.
Boller’s estate gift brings the Class of
1963 Alumni Memorial Scholarship to
$28,200, an amount that meets the
school’s endowment benchmark of
$25,000. Next school year the ’63 Fund
will begin producing an annual award
equal to 5% of the Fund principal.
$24,150 is Pledged
The Class of 1985 gathered for its 20-year
reunion the weekend of August 19-20 and
presented St. Charles with a new endowment
fund to support the school’s
longstanding mission of granting needbased
student aid. At the time of this
report, a total of $24,150 had been pledged
by 18 members of the class. The benchmark
for a new scholarship endowment at
St. Charles is $25,000.
“This particular reunion committee
did a fine job of reaching out to their
classmates from all over the country,” said
St. Charles Principal Dominic Cavello.
“The results speak for themselves. This is
a highly successful class of alumni who
are also very generous.”
Leading their ’85 Class Gift Committee
were alumni Vince Fabro, Mike Jarosi,
Neal Roberts and Bill Turner.
“On behalf of the Class of 1985, I am
proud to announce the launch of the Class
of 1985 Endowment. Many members of
our class were generous with their time,
effort, and resources in planning our 20-
year reunion. The planning stages gave
pause for many to reflect upon their St.
Charles experience. An overriding sentiment,
not uncommon to alumni of all
’85 Class creates endowment
St. Charles principal Dominic J. Cavello holds a pledge
“check” presented to him by the Class of 1985 at its
reunion event at Plank’s Café last August. The “check”
was to help establish the Class of 1985 Endowment with
$17,150 in pledges. That figure now stands at $24,150.
Other St. Charles faculty members attending included
Doug Montgomery and Mike Arends.
The Distinctive Leader in Catholic Education
classes, was the role of St. Charles in
shaping their formative years. Our class
members, however, made specific note of
the unique socio-economic diversity of the
student body and how, upon reflection,
this element was so very integral,” said
Jarosi.
Jarosi said his classmates made a
commitment to the mission of St. Charles
as established by its founder, Bishop
James Hartley, that no young man should
be denied, or deterred from, the opportunity
of a St. Charles education due to lack
of family financial resources.
“The Class of 1985 Endowment has
received over $23,000 in pledges, at such
an early date from its inception. We are
confident this endowment will to continue
to grow, so that Bishop Harley’s mission
may be guaranteed – and enhanced – for
generations to come,” Jarosi said
