4. Classification and hazard communication<br />

4.1. Classification framework<br />

In general, each legal framework has its own classification <strong>system</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>chemicals</strong>, i.e. no<br />

common classification <strong>system</strong> and respective criteria currently exist in Russia. <strong>The</strong> different<br />

frameworks are presented in Figure 1. Endpoints to consi<strong>de</strong>r in each framework<br />

and criteria for classification, i.e. assigning class <strong>of</strong> danger for each endpoint, are mostly<br />

<strong>de</strong>fined by national standards (GOSTs) and methodological gui<strong>de</strong>lines.<br />
