TOWNSHIP OF FLORENCE BOARD OF EDUCATION
RESOLUTION #10/11-087-R-451
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF PRIOR YEAR ADDITIONAL TUITION
FOR THE TITUSVILLE ACADEMY
DURING THE 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR PURSUANT TO N.J.A.C. 6:20-4.8(d)
AND APPROVING A TRANSFER OF FUNDS/NEW LINE ITEM ACCOUNT
AND THAT THE SUBJECT RESOLUTION IS IDENTIFIED WITH THE SPONSOR CODE B/W
WHEREAS, N.J.A.C. 6:20-4.8(d) provides that a certified audit shall determine the certified actual cost(s)
per pupil and actual tuition rate(s) charged at the end of the school year; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Education may approve a higher tentative
tuition rate for any year in which the approved private school for the handicapped or public school system can
prove to the satisfaction of the Commissioner that the tentative tuition rate for the year is not adequate and
should cause an undue financial hardship for the private school or school system; and
WHEREAS, in the event of such hardship, the school system shall be required to submit its request for
a higher tentative tuition rate for the entire school no later than January 31 preceding the beginning of the
ensuing school year; and
WHEREAS, if the Commissioner determines that the tentative tuition rate(s) for a ten (10) month school
year or an extended school year established by written contractual agreement is less than the actual tuition
rate(s) charged for the school year, the approved school for the handicapped or school system may charge
each sending district board of education all or part of the difference owed. The district board of education shall
pay the difference on a mutually agreed to date but not later than the end of the school year following the year
for which the actual cost per pupil is certified; and
WHEREAS, the Township of Florence Board of Education has official notification that an additional tuition
charge of seven thousand seven hundred fifty seven dollars and no cents ($7,757.00) has been assessed
by the The Titusville Academy, 86 River Drive, Titusville, New Jersey 08560-1712 for the 2009-2010
school year; and
WHEREAS, the following Board of Education comments and/or discussion was had, if any, on the matter
of this Resolution:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township of Florence Board of Education, Burlington County,
State of New Jersey, that the Business Administrator/Secretary to the Board shall determine the appropriate
date for payment of the additional tuition and duly notify the The Titusville Academy.
