Mission Statement:<br />
<strong>The</strong> mission of the School of Business Administration is to educate<br />
and develop leaders of principle to serve a global community.<br />
Admission Requirements:<br />
Applicants will be admitted to the MBA program on the basis of<br />
scholastic achievement and aptitude for graduate study. Other<br />
qualities appropriate to graduate study are also considered.<br />
Anyone holding a bachelor’s degree in business administration<br />
from an accredited college or university (one recognized by the<br />
Council for Higher Education Accreditation) is eligible for<br />
consideration. Students with an undergraduate degree from a<br />
discipline other than business who would like to pursue the MBA<br />
must fulfill admission requirements by the completion of the five<br />
Pre-MBA courses: BADM 701, Foundations of Accounting, BADM<br />
704, Foundations of Economics, BADM 707, Foundations of<br />
Marketing and International Business, BADM 710 Quantitative<br />
Methods and BADM 725, Foundations of Finance. Descriptions<br />
of these courses are listed on page 29 and 30 of this catalog in<br />
addition to the admissions requirements for the Pre-MBA program.<br />
All material must be received by the <strong>CGC</strong> office on or before the<br />
following dates to assure consideration to the MBA program.<br />

1. Complete and return a graduate application form, along with<br />
appropriate non-refundable application fee, to <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong><br />
Graduate College (<strong>CGC</strong>), Bond Hall Room 101.<br />
2. An official transcript of the baccalaureate degree and all<br />
other undergraduate or graduate work directly from each<br />
regionally accredited college or university. Applicants whose<br />
degrees are from colleges or universities outside the United<br />
States are required to have transcripts translated by an academic<br />
credential evaluation organization recognized by <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong><br />
Graduate College.<br />
3. Take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) and<br />
submit an official copy of the scores to the <strong>CGC</strong> office. <strong>The</strong><br />
GMAT must be taken within the last five years for <strong>The</strong><br />
<strong>Citadel</strong> to accept the scores. GRE scores may be considered on a<br />
case-by-case basis.<br />
4. Submit two signed letters of recommendation to the <strong>CGC</strong><br />
office. <strong>The</strong>se may be from faculty members where<br />
undergraduate work was done and/or from associates in<br />
business or military service. Recommendations should be<br />
able to evaluate the applicant’s potential for graduate work in<br />
business.<br />
5. Submit a resume detailing previous work experience.<br />
6. Submit two brief essays that answer the following questions:<br />
a. How have your education, knowledge, experience and skills<br />
prepared you for graduate business education, and how<br />
will these help you contribute to the program’s educational<br />
community?<br />
b. What do you hope to gain from your graduate education, both<br />
during the process and in the future?<br />
7. Submit an official TOEFL score if the applicant’s native language is<br />
not English. <strong>The</strong> minimum score is 550 paper-based, 213 computer<br />
based, or 79 Internet based.<br />
8. All international students must apply for the MBA program to apply<br />
for a student visa.<br />
9. <strong>The</strong> MBA Committee and/or the MBA Director may request an<br />
interview with the applicant.<br />
Admission Denied: During the admission process, the applicant’s<br />
records will be reviewed and results communicated in writing. If<br />
the application is denied admission, an applicant may petition the<br />
MBA Committee through the MBA Director for reconsideration,<br />
citing any extenuating or mitigating circumstances.<br />
Program Requirements:<br />
Students that have an undergraduate business degree from an<br />
accredited college or university (e.g. AACSB accredited) are<br />
required to complete 36 hours of graduate study, which include<br />
nine required and three elective courses. A maximum of two<br />
courses (6 hours) may be transferred in from an approved AACSB<br />
MBA program at another institution.<br />
Students are expected to complete all degree requirements within a<br />
six-year period from the time of registration in their first graduate<br />
course at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong>.<br />
Required courses: BADM 713, BADM 716, BADM 719, and<br />
BADM 722 may be taken as co-requisites with the capstone course<br />
BADM 740; BADM 728, BADM 731, BADM 734, and BADM<br />
737 are required to be taken before taking the capstone course,<br />
BADM 740. Students must successfully complete these courses<br />
with an overall GPR of 3.0 or better before taking BADM 740. Any<br />
prerequisites for advanced or elective courses must be met.<br />
Course load: Students may take no more than six credit hours per<br />
semester. Students may request in writing to be considered for full<br />
time student status; requests must be sent to the MBA Program<br />
Director. Students with provisional status must secure permission<br />
from the MBA Program Director to take more than three credit<br />
hours in a semester. Summer terms are restricted to six credit<br />
hours per term for part and full-time students, except provisional<br />
students who are limited to three credit hours per summer term.<br />
Course of Study:<br />
Students from AACSB accredited undergraduate programs who<br />
meet the admissions requirements of <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong> MBA program<br />
will be allowed to begin MBA classes upon acceptance. This course<br />
of study consists of 27 specific required hours (9 classes) and 9<br />
elective hours (3 classes) and will lead to the awarding of a general<br />
MBA from <strong>The</strong> <strong>Citadel</strong> School of Business Administration. <strong>The</strong>
