1850 The remainder of this report on the Stewart family will be based on US census data. Ordinarily, I would compute the birth year by subtracting the age from the census year, but since we have such good birth and death data from various states’ vital records, the Social Security Death Index, and researcher Joe Goss, I have included the actual dates in the following tables. James Franklin Stewart (see last entry in the above table) was born on 24 November 1826 in Greenville County, South Carolina. On 28 August 1848, a marriage license was issued in Carroll Co, TN, and he married Cornelia Ann Blow on 3 September 1848. Cornelia Ann was born on 14 May 1830 in South Hampton County, Virginia. Her parents were William T. and Lucy G. Blow. One source states that he was about 6’2” tall while his wife Cornelia was less than 5’. Photographs of James Franklin Stewart and Cornelia Blow Stewart exist and are shown at the end of this report. 1860 Curiously, this family could not be found in the 1860 census. The reason is unknown at this time. Usually, when someone is not found in a census, it is due to a major name spelling error or lost census pages. 1870 By 1870, the James Franklin Stewart family had grown to 12 members, one short of the complete family of 13. By 1870, the family had moved from Tennessee and was now living in Des Arc Township of White County, Arkansas.
