The Atkins Family
The Atkins Family Prior to 1850
Once again, it is important to remember that family data prior to 1850 was usually taken from
family trees compiled by other researchers using source data unavailable to me. There is always
the possibility that some of this data is incorrect or in conflict.
Based on these family trees, the first member of this Atkins family found is Francis Atkins. He
was born in London, England, in approximately 1682. His parent’s names are unknown so far.
Francis Atkins
Francis Atkins immigrated to America from London, England, sometime between 1682 and 1708
and then married Unknown on Unknown date in the US. They had at least one child, also named
Francis (Francis II). Francis II was born in Virginia in 1708.

John Atkins
There is a conflict of data about the marriage of John Atkins. Some sources say he was married
once, to Christiana Unknown, Other sources say he was married twice, to Christiana Unknown
and to Jane Yeldell, or just once but to Jane Yeldell. Here are his two possible families:
