The <strong>Barrie</strong> <strong><strong>Creek</strong>s</strong>, <strong>Lovers</strong> <strong>Creek</strong> <strong>and</strong> Hewitt’s <strong>Creek</strong> <strong>Subwatershed</strong> <strong>Plan</strong><br />

Unlike the <strong>Barrie</strong> <strong><strong>Creek</strong>s</strong> subwatershed, the largest l<strong>and</strong> use in the <strong>Lovers</strong> <strong>Creek</strong> subwatershed<br />

is tied between natural heritage features (35%) <strong>and</strong> intensive <strong>and</strong> non-intensive agriculture<br />

(34%). There is a much smaller percentage of urban l<strong>and</strong> use (21%) than in the <strong>Barrie</strong> <strong><strong>Creek</strong>s</strong><br />

subwatershed. Other l<strong>and</strong> uses occupying smaller areas include manicured open space (1%),<br />

golf courses (2%) <strong>and</strong> rural development (2%).<br />

Within the Hewitt’s <strong>Creek</strong> subwatershed the largest l<strong>and</strong> use is intensive <strong>and</strong> non-intensive<br />

agriculture, composing 52% of the area. This is followed by natural heritage features (21%) <strong>and</strong><br />

urban l<strong>and</strong> use (19%), with small amounts of l<strong>and</strong> residential (1%) <strong>and</strong> manicured open space<br />

(1%).<br />
