The <strong>Barrie</strong> <strong><strong>Creek</strong>s</strong>, <strong>Lovers</strong> <strong>Creek</strong> <strong>and</strong> Hewitt’s <strong>Creek</strong> <strong>Subwatershed</strong> <strong>Plan</strong><br />

To see how these three subwatersheds compare to the other subwatersheds within the Lake<br />

Simcoe watershed Figure 2-9 to Figure 2-11 illustrate all 18 of the Lake Simcoe subwatersheds<br />

from the subwatershed with the highest percentage of urban, natural heritage, <strong>and</strong> rural l<strong>and</strong><br />

uses to the subwatershed with the lowest percentage. The <strong>Barrie</strong> <strong><strong>Creek</strong>s</strong>, <strong>Lovers</strong> <strong>Creek</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

Hewitt’s <strong>Creek</strong> subwatersheds are outlined in black.<br />

For urban l<strong>and</strong> use (Figure 2-9), the <strong>Barrie</strong> <strong><strong>Creek</strong>s</strong> has the highest percentage (63%) while<br />

Whites <strong>Creek</strong> subwatershed in the eastern part of the watershed has the lowest (1%). <strong>Lovers</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> Hewitt’s <strong>Creek</strong> have the third <strong>and</strong> fourth highest percentages (21% <strong>and</strong> 19%, respectively),<br />

with only the East Holl<strong>and</strong> subwatershed having a higher percentage (26%).<br />

The subwatershed with the highest percentage of natural heritage l<strong>and</strong> cover is Hawkestone<br />

<strong>Creek</strong> (57%) in the south-west of the watershed, while the <strong>Barrie</strong> <strong><strong>Creek</strong>s</strong> subwatershed has the<br />

lowest percentage (17%). Hewitt’s <strong>Creek</strong> subwatershed has the third lowest percentage with<br />

21%, while the <strong>Lovers</strong> <strong>Creek</strong> subwatershed sits midway with natural heritage features<br />

consisting of 35% of its l<strong>and</strong> cover (Figure 2-10).<br />
