Conclusion
The year has been a valuable experience, working and supporting clients and various
organisations in regards to the alcohol and drug sector. We have established a good
foundation to continue to work from with a number of the community stakeholders. There is
so much to accomplish, before we really can say, that we are making a difference.
Young Aboriginal men and women who show potential to be leaders in their community
need to be nurtured with education and mentorship to help change the sub-culture of drug
and alcohol mis-use in the Walgett Region. However, we need to look at the positives and
the small steps that have already been taken. WAMS is a beacon of hope for many in the
Walgett community - twenty five years of service is the proof of that.
