PUBLIC HEALTH WORKER<br />
JULY 20<strong>10</strong> TO JUNE 2011<br />
Introduction<br />
On 15 February 2011 I recommenced work after ten months of maternity leave and have<br />
filled the Public Health position one day per week.<br />
Since commencing this position I have been involved in a number of community programs<br />
which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I delivered my Healthy Preschoolers’ program to<br />
Koolyangarra Preschool. I have also attended weekly visits to Walgett Community Colleges<br />
Behavioural class, as well as attending Rugby League sessions at St Josephs School and<br />
accompanying St Josephs Netballers to local tournaments. I have also been conducting swim<br />
sessions with <strong>WAMS</strong> workers aiming to complete their bronze medallions in preparation for<br />
the <strong>WAMS</strong> 25 year celebrations. I have attended Reconciliation Day at the Walgett High<br />
School as well as completing “Shake a Leg” training in Dubbo. I also assisted in the <strong>WAMS</strong><br />
25 year celebration week which was great to be involved in.<br />
General Duties<br />
• Provide ongoing Health Promotional Activities that focus on improving the Health and<br />
Wellbeing of Aboriginal People in Walgett<br />
• Provide support to local school sports programs<br />
• Provide a Health Lifestyle Program to Preschool Children<br />
Community Programs & Health Promotions<br />
• Healthy Preschoolers program at Koolyangarra Pre School<br />
• <strong>WAMS</strong> 25 year celebrations<br />
• Reconciliation Day at Walgett High School<br />
• Netball development at St Josephs primary school<br />
• Rugby League development at St Josephs primary school<br />
• Behavioural class at Walgett Community College<br />
• Bronze Medallion training<br />

Conclusion<br />
I have enjoyed promoting healthy living throughout the Walgett community and look forward<br />
to continuing my work during the coming year.<br />
