ANNUAL REPORT 2010/2011
HEARING HEALTH WORKER
JULY 2010 TO JUNE 2011
Introduction
Over the past year the Hearing Health Worker has worked toward achieving an accreditation
in Cert IV for Aboriginal Health and Hearing training from the Royal Deaf and Blind Society.
The Hearing program is a vital part of Aboriginal Health as many Aboriginal Children suffer
with Otitis Media and other ear infection.
The Hearing Health Worker has worked continuously to provide health care across the
community, assisting GP’s and visiting specialists. I have worked with the program team to
deliver health promotion for various promotional events. Participating in these events has
enhanced opportunity for the community to engage in hearing health services. I have also
assisting in clinical procedures, dispensary and transport when required.
Two significant events for this reporting period were the 25 year Anniversary for WAMS and
the Freedom Ride visitors. These two events depict the advancement but most importantly
the struggles for Aboriginal people and their survival.
