In PubMed, used MeSH Head<strong>in</strong>gs “chronic disease” and “preventive health<br />
services”. Yielded 10 results. Broadened search to “chronic disease prevention”<br />
which yielded 122 f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs. Selected items focus<strong>in</strong>g on broad prevention reviews<br />
rather than those that were disease specific. Searched <strong>in</strong>tegrated chronic disease<br />
prevention with same limits and noth<strong>in</strong>g was found. In CINAHL, searched<br />
“chronic disease prevention”. Yielded 25 results. In Cochrane, searched “chronic<br />
disease prevention” which yielded 9 reviews and 5 economic evaluations. In<br />
Bandolier, us<strong>in</strong>g the search term “chronic disease prevention” which yielded no<br />
results. Us<strong>in</strong>g “chronic disease” and “preventive health services did not yield<br />
results either.<br />
Injury Prevention<br />
In PubMed used key word “<strong>in</strong>jury prevention”. Yielded 272 f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs. Items<br />
selected ma<strong>in</strong>ly focussed on broad <strong>in</strong>jury prevention reviews rather than reviews<br />
focused on specific <strong>in</strong>juries (e.g. bra<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>jury, sports related <strong>in</strong>jury). Included<br />
reviews related to falls. Used MeSH head<strong>in</strong>g “Accident Prevention” not “Injury<br />
Prevention” which resulted <strong>in</strong> 106 additional f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
In Cochrane, searched “<strong>in</strong>jury prevention” which yielded 35 reviews and 23<br />
economic evaluations. Search<strong>in</strong>g “accident prevention” yielded 20 review results,<br />
of which 6 were selected, and 14 economic evaluations. In CINAHL used key<br />
word “<strong>in</strong>jury prevention”. Yielded 36 results. In Bandolier, search<strong>in</strong>g “<strong>in</strong>jury<br />
prevention” yielded no results.<br />
Chronic Disease Management<br />
In PubMed used key word chronic disease management. Yielded over 12,000<br />
results, so phrase was limited by the terms “model” and “program,” yield<strong>in</strong>g 475<br />
and 620 results respectively. Items selected focused on chronic disease<br />
management models <strong>in</strong> general rather than highly disease-specific chronic disease<br />
management approaches. For example, an item titled “Oral 5-Am<strong>in</strong>osalicylic Acid<br />
for Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance of Medically Induced Remission <strong>in</strong> Crohn’s Disease” was<br />
excluded from the <strong>in</strong>ventory because of its highly specific nature. Successfully<br />
searched on key word chronic disease management <strong>in</strong> CINAHL and Cochrane,<br />
also <strong>in</strong> Bandolier with no relevant results.<br />
