Firewood
The last days of summer. Sam meets up with her best friend Billy for a lazy afternoon in the sun
and what begins as a perfectly innocent trip to their usual hangout soon changes its nature.
Firewood is a story about friendship, of unspoken words, and the inevitability of change. It is
a moment in time which in its brevity and seeming insignificance marks the end of an era, a step
towards adulthood.
Miikka Leskinen
Originally from Finland, Mikka Leskinen moved to London in
1999 for a BA media degree at Goldsmiths College, University
of London. After graduating in 2002, he worked for BBC for a
few years before starting his MA Editing degree at the National
Film + Television School. During the degree he also took the
opportunity to direct and as a result he completed the short
film Firewood on graduation in March 2007. He now works as
a freelance director and film editor based in London, and he is
currently in pre-production with his next short film.
