Glenn
Glenn Nygård, a 40 year old tomato-planter, has been falling in love with the local bar-keeper,
Laila, for the past five years. His cruel father has raised Glenn locked-up in the basement of his
house. There Glenn has learned to master the guitar but not how to handle women. When Glenn’s
father dies suddenly, he finds a stack of letters which were signed by his mother. His mother
might still be living somewhere in Sweden. Glenn locks the house up and leaves. Glenn is not able
to find his mother. Instead he stumbles across two individuals: a Swedish law-officer, Bengt, and
his step-brother’s wife, Annette. Nobody finds himself on the top of Kilimanjaro or in a hasty attempt
to seek silence in a monastery. But sometimes the course of our lives changes, slowly, like
a ship turning unnoticeably.
Tapio Piirainen
Tapio Piirainen is a screenwriter, film director, and
Master of Arts (1996, School of Motion Picture,
Television and Production Design). His directorial
works include Siivoton juttu (1997), Poliisin poika
(1998), TV series Raid (12 episodes, 1999), the movie
Raid (2002), Nyrölä 3 (2003), and Bodomin legenda
(2006). Awards: Anjalankoski Film Award 2001,
Venla 2001 (best director, screenplay, drama series),
Venla 2007 (best TV movie), one-year artist grant in
2002 from the National Council for Cinema.
