Sun Java Runtime Environment<br />

55 Please refer to the <strong>IESO</strong> Supported Client Platform web page for the required<br />

Java runtime environment Obtaining this software from the Sun Java web site<br />

and its installation on the workstation is detailed in the Identity Management<br />

Operations Guide. It does not need to be set as the default for the browser<br />

however in either the Java control panel or IE Internet Options.<br />

56 Only a user with administrative rights may be able to set the default use of the<br />

JRE Plug-in with IE or not.<br />

57 The JRE should be installed on the workstation properly configured to enable<br />

the MPI applet to function when the user navigates to in Internet Explorer.<br />

These can be checked under the Java control panel. See Figure 2-14 below.<br />

58 Ensure the setting „Place Java icon in system tray‟ is checked in the Java<br />

control panel. This will allow access to the Java console via the right mouse<br />

button.<br />

59 Ensure that „Enable logging‟ is checked under Debugging in the Java control<br />

panel.<br />

60 Ensure that „Hide console‟ is checked under Java Console in the Java control<br />

panel. This will prevent the Java console from always activating when a user<br />

navigates to the MPI or uses Internet Explorer.<br />

61 Ensure that „SSL 3.0‟ is checked under Security in the Java control panel. Also,<br />

ensure that all other boxes under Security are checked except for „Use SSL 2.0‟<br />

and „Use TLS 1.0‟ unless the user has other java applications that need these<br />

security protocols. If SSL 3.0 is not checked, a Java general exception error<br />
