reality, the sentiment of joy was also
visible on the troubled Osmania
University which has seen pitched
battles for over 5 years , as the police
posts on the campus were dismantled.
For the students of the Osmania , the
credit for the victory actually belongs
to them,” The sacrifice of thousands
of students who put the formation of
Telangana state ahead of their own
careers and the supreme sacrifice of the
students who gave up their lives. But the
energy of the students will now charter
the political course in the state so that
we can ensure that the rights of needy
are not usurped by some politically
powerful people” says Krishank , a
student union leader of Osmania
University.
Meanwhile it was an emotive mixed
bag for the people of Seemandhara
, whose last ditch efforts and the
prolonged agitations in Seemandhara
did not seem to have had any impact on
the final decision making. The ‘ pepper
spray’ rhetoric , tearing of bills etc of the
seemandhara MP’s in the parliament,
may finally not have been vain . Seeing
the sentiment of seemandhara, and the
angry protests against the Congress
party in the Seemandhara region , the
central government quickly announced
sops by giving special status to
seemandhara . Union minister Jairam
ramesh was rushed with a 50,000 crore
package over next five years for the
region.
The visit of Jairam ramesh in Feb
end and the protests against the union
minister were a clear indicator that even
the announcement of the special status
to seemandhara were not enough to
cool the fraying tempers .
But as the announcement of both
the parliamentary and assembly polls
came, it was time for the parties to sit
down and work strategy for the same.
Every party now wants to have key role
in the decision making of the state’s
future.

guessing Jagan finally flagged off his
campaign for hi party for the polls and
appealing for United andhrapradesh.
Jagan’s plans to campaign in the
telangana region may not go down well
with the separatists in Telangana region
, but the political returns he reaps in
Seemandhara for the opposition he
faces cannot be discounted.
In the telangana region , the congress
is worried by the slippery attitude of
KCR whose public pronouncement of
merger of his TRS with the Congress
saw a Big U Turn. KCR was quick to
reject the merger proposal after his
meeting with UPA Chairperson Sonia
Gandhi. This has the congress party
back to where it started off, wooing the
TRS yet again , competing with the BJP
to give out a better deal to TRS in the
negotiations. The alliance suits TRS as it
will have an option to once again jump
to the NDA bandwagon if required.
POINT OUT tried to reach KCR and
his son KTR to know their point of view
but the request was not met.
As the campaign heats up and each
leader is ready to play his master stroke
in the political race , the people of both
sides whose lives have been disrupted
for the last several months only hope
that their lives will return to normalcy .
