Getting some food
No card - no meal
It is not possible to pay cash in any canteen or cafeteria at the campus, you have to pay
with a special chipcard, which is also required to give you access to the university’s sports
centre.
The Mensacard service bureau is located in the
basement of the Uni-Mensa. There is a sign
next to the door, which can be entered from
the Albertus-Magnus-Straße (that is the street
that leads way through the Uni). You can catch
a card during monday to friday between 08:30
am - 10:45 am and 11:15 am - 02:00 pm by identifying
yourself as an student with your student
card as well as your identity card and paying
10 e as caution money.
There are several revaluate machines in the
canteen entrance areas for topping up your
mensa card. Therefore you have to press the
card on the machine as shown on the picture
and put money in it. The money you have on
account can be seen on the blue display. The
Mensacard is not only necessary for getting
food in the canteen but for the cafeterias and
drinks machines all over the campus.
Occasionally you may find a GiroCard-machine for topping up your card’s credit. Even if it
doesn’t really look like it in the first impression, the screen is indeed a touchscreen, where
you have to select the wished amount before proceeding with your card/pin …
