THE LESSER KEy OF SOLOMON<br />

ofthe Moon which are written by the four Angels; and in the fourth day of<br />

the Moon is manifested to us; and are four times repeated and explained by<br />

the Angel, the Messenger of these Orations; and are also revealed and delivered<br />

to us that require them from the Angel, four times of the year, to<br />

shew the Eloquence and Fulness of the four Languages, Greek, Hebrew,<br />

Chaldee and Larine; and God hath determined the Power ofthe Faculties of<br />

Humane Understanding, to the four Parts of the Earth; and also the four<br />

Vertues of Humanities, Understanding, Memory, Eloquence, and the Faculty<br />

of Ruling those three. And these things are to be used as we have<br />

before spoken.<br />

He sheweth how the precedent Oration is the Beginning and Foundation<br />

ofthe whole Art.<br />

~hat is the first Figure of the N~t~ Art, :vhich ~s manifestly sited<br />

.1 upon a Qlladrangle Note: And this is Angelical Wisdom, understood<br />

of few in Astronomy; but in the Glass ofAstrology, it is called, The Ring<br />

ofPhilosophy; and in the Notary Art it is written, To be the Foundation of<br />

the whole Science. But it is to be rehearsed four times a day, beginning in<br />

the morning once, about the third hour once, once in the ninth hour, and<br />

once in the evening.<br />

The precedent Oration ought to be spoken secretly; and let him that<br />

speaks it be alone, and pronounce it with a low voyce,so that he scarcelyhear<br />

himself And this is the condition hereof, that ifnecessity urge one todo any<br />

great works, he shall say it twice in the morning, and about the ninth hour<br />

twice; and let him fast the first day wherein he rehearseth it, and let him live<br />

chastly and devoutly. And this is the oration which he shall say:<br />

This is the Oration of the four Tongues, Cbaldee, Greek, Hebrew and<br />

Latine, evidently expounded, which is called, "the Splendor or Speculum of<br />

Wisdom." In all holy Lunations, these Orations ought to be read, once in<br />

the morning, once about the third hour, once about the ninth hour, and<br />

once in the evening.<br />
