Sustainability
Report 2010
About this Report
Scope & Materiality
OneSteel has elected to transition
its Sustainability Report into a
more comprehensive, standalone
report to provide stakeholders with
a greater level of communication
on the company’s approach to
sustainability. In doing this it was
integral to engage key stakeholders
in the determination of material
aspects and information for the
inclusion in the construction of
the final report.
The process for stakeholder
engagement involved consultation
and discussion of material
aspects with each of the following
stakeholder groups:
• Government and
non‐government organisations
• Customers and industry
• Investors, analysts and
fund managers
• OneSteel employees
The feedback from this consultation
helped to determine the most
relevant and material information
for inclusion in the report.
In preparing the 2010 Sustainability
Report, OneSteel used a five-step
process as outlined to the right.
Throughout the engagement process
to develop the 2010 Sustainability
Report, it has been confirmed
that ongoing commitment to
understanding and updating against
key stakeholders’ information needs
is paramount to creating a report
with the ‘right content’.
Boundary
Approximately 90% of sites under
OneSteel’s operational control
are located in Australia. As this
represents the vast majority of
our interaction with sustainability
issues, the content of this
report has focused on domestic
operations. In situations where
overseas sites have been included
in reported data, a statement to
this effect has been provided.
