7th North Staffs
Members of the Company undertook
a sponsored walk to raise funds for
Samaritan’s Purse International Water
Aid fundraising appeal. They raised
£375, which was presented to the
local organiser who also collected
100 Operation Christmas Child
Shoeboxes, which were donated by
the Company and Church members.
2nd Tonbridge
celebrates 50 years
The 2nd Tonbridge Company, based
at Tonbridge Baptist Church celebrated
its 50th anniversary last October. Around
250 past and present members, family
and friends viewed memorabilia from
each decade, enjoyed a superb tea,
prepared and served by members of
Amicus, were entertained by past and
present band members, and the evening
concluded with a firework display held
at a local school.
The Mayor took the salute at the
Sunday morning Church Parade service.
The service involved past Chaplains
and members and was evidence of
how Jesus had worked in their lives
through the BB.
Top of the Form
Pictured are the winners of the ‘Top of
the Form’ Strathkelvin Battalion Boys’
Brigade trophy.
The 1st Lenzie team (who hosted
the latest quiz) saw off challenges from
1st, 5th, and 6th Kirkintilloch Companies,
scoring highly in the general knowledge
and FA cup final rounds. Team Captain,
David Bell, pictured holding the trophy
said “It will be nice to have another
1st Lenzie inscription on the shield.”
Glasgow Battalion Anchor Boys’ Theatre Trip
More than 200 Anchor Boys and Leaders from across the Glasgow Battalion took
over the Tron Theatre for the afternoon performance of ‘Ya Beauty and the Beast’ on
Saturday 5th December. Everyone enjoyed the performance and would like to give
special thanks to all at the Tron for making them most welcome, incorporating them into
the script and allowing a couple of boys from each company on to the stage for
the photograph above.
2nd Blairgowrie
The 2nd Blairgowrie Senior Boys, as
part of their project on Crime, recently
had a very informative and enjoyable
Q&A session with Mr John Swinney
MSP. He talked with them about various
aspects of Parliamentary work including
how decisions made by the Scottish
Government affect the courts, the police
and the citizen on the street.
Southport & District
Junior Section
On the 9th January 2010 Southport &
District Junior Section went to Blackpool
Tower and Circus and a fantastic day
out was had by all. Over 30 boys went
with staff and parents. The highlights
of the day were Jungle Jim and the
pantomime circus with Mooky Doolittle.
1st Rugby – Thank
you from Lions
Members of the 1st Rugby joined the
Rugby Rokeby Lions in its charity fund
raising over the Christmas period and
as a thank you, two representatives
from the Lions presented a cheque to
the Company, which will be used for on
going work.
