7th North Staffs<br />

Members of the Company undertook<br />

a sponsored walk to raise funds for<br />

Samaritan’s Purse International Water<br />

Aid fundraising appeal. <strong>The</strong>y raised<br />

£375, which was presented to the<br />

local organiser who also collected<br />

100 Operation Christmas Child<br />

Shoeboxes, which were donated by<br />

the Company and Church members.<br />

2nd Tonbridge<br />

celebrates 50 years<br />

<strong>The</strong> 2nd Tonbridge Company, based<br />

at Tonbridge Baptist Church celebrated<br />

its 50th anniversary last October. Around<br />

250 past and present members, family<br />

and friends viewed memorabilia from<br />

each decade, enjoyed a superb tea,<br />

prepared and served by members of<br />

Amicus, were entertained by past and<br />

present band members, and the evening<br />

concluded with a firework display held<br />

at a local school.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Mayor took the salute at the<br />

Sunday morning Church Parade service.<br />

<strong>The</strong> service involved past Chaplains<br />

and members and was evidence of<br />

how Jesus had worked in their lives<br />

through the BB.<br />

Top of the Form<br />

Pictured are the winners of the ‘Top of<br />

the Form’ Strathkelvin Battalion Boys’<br />

<strong>Brigade</strong> trophy.<br />

<strong>The</strong> 1st Lenzie team (who hosted<br />

the latest quiz) saw off challenges from<br />

1st, 5th, and 6th Kirkintilloch Companies,<br />

scoring highly in the general knowledge<br />

and FA cup final rounds. Team Captain,<br />

David Bell, pictured holding the trophy<br />

said “It will be nice to have another<br />

1st Lenzie inscription on the shield.”<br />

Glasgow Battalion Anchor Boys’ <strong>The</strong>atre Trip<br />

More than 200 Anchor Boys and Leaders from across the Glasgow Battalion took<br />

over the Tron <strong>The</strong>atre for the afternoon performance of ‘Ya Beauty and the Beast’ on<br />

Saturday 5th December. Everyone enjoyed the performance and would like to give<br />

special thanks to all at the Tron for making them most welcome, incorporating them into<br />

the script and allowing a couple of boys from each company on to the stage for<br />

the photograph above.<br />

2nd Blairgowrie<br />

<strong>The</strong> 2nd Blairgowrie Senior Boys, as<br />

part of their project on Crime, recently<br />

had a very informative and enjoyable<br />

Q&A session with Mr John Swinney<br />

MSP. He talked with them about various<br />

aspects of Parliamentary work including<br />

how decisions made by the Scottish<br />

Government affect the courts, the police<br />

and the citizen on the street.<br />

Southport & District<br />

Junior Section<br />

On the 9th January <strong>2010</strong> Southport &<br />

District Junior Section went to Blackpool<br />

Tower and Circus and a fantastic day<br />

out was had by all. Over 30 boys went<br />

with staff and parents. <strong>The</strong> highlights<br />

of the day were Jungle Jim and the<br />

pantomime circus with Mooky Doolittle.<br />

1st Rugby – Thank<br />

you from Lions<br />

Members of the 1st Rugby joined the<br />

Rugby Rokeby Lions in its charity fund<br />

raising over the Christmas period and<br />

as a thank you, two representatives<br />

from the Lions presented a cheque to<br />

the Company, which will be used for on<br />

going work.<br />
