Worship with a WOW
Plans are now well underway to make Firm Foundations 2010
better than ever before.
A number of worship speakers have been booked for the
event including Matt Summerfield, Executive Director at
Urban Saints; Rachel Gardner from the Romance Academy;
Phil Knox from Youth for Christ and Mark Greenwood from
the 40:3 Trust.
An action-packed programme of activities is being put
together including woodcraft sessions, team/problemsolving
activities, archery, abseiling, various field sports
and canoeing.
The Festival will also offer a great range of entertainment
including performances from up-and-coming bands, a quiz,
talent show, variety show and a talk show.
The latest speakers, worship bands, entertainment acts
and activities can all be viewed on FF’s website
www.firm-foundations.org.uk as can profiles of selected
speakers and performers.
The theme for this year’s festival taking place between Friday
28 May and Monday 31 May 2010 will be based on iCan –
taken from the Bible verse Philippians Ch.4:13 ‘For I can
do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.’
The FF Office is open 9am-12pm every Tuesday and then
between 17 to 21 May the office will be open 9am-12pm on
Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and 2-5pm on Wednesday and
Thursday. The office will be open full time during the week

Festival
Preparations are well underway for a brand new festival, which
will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend 27th –
30th August. This fresh and exciting event will enable young
people from all over the north to enjoy a great festival experience
without having to travel to the other end of the country.
Designed for boys and girls aged 11 plus, the event will take
place at the Hollybush Centre near Thirsk in Yorkshire where
there is plenty of space for camping. The site has its own
showers, toilets and two great indoor venues, the largest having
a 600 seating capacity with state of the art sound, lighting and
visual equipment.
Catering facilities will be available or you may choose to cater
for yourselves.
The site will be divided into villages and groups and individuals will
be assigned to a village on arrival and introduced to their hosts,
who will be there to ensure youngsters get the most out of the
festival programme, as well as offering all kinds of other support
and encouragement. By running a village system it is hoped
that individual young people as well as groups will attend. This
might suit smaller companies (although groups of any size will be
welcome) that wouldn’t normally be able to go away on a camp
or some other kind of residential, and also young people that are
perhaps the only ones in their church.
Each day a full programme will take place, which will include
worship in different styles, workshops including circus skills,
activities, games, competitions and loads of time to chill out around
the site. In our own tent city there will be a Beauty Zone offering
nail painting, hair braiding, make up tips etc. Our own Electronic
Games Arcade area will feature large screen games using Wii and
X Box. We will have our very own Big Brother Diary Room, 23’ Pink
Air Dancer, Labyrinth and Climbing Wall. We are also hoping to have
a Zip Wire, Sports Coaching, Fire Eater, Football Cage, Art Project,
Canoeing and an Assault Course. In the evening, concerts featuring
all kinds of bands ranging from young people just starting out to
professional artistes will take place and we will have our own version
of the ‘X Factor’ as well as quizzes, films, drama and theme nights.
The cost is just £50 per person and the programme will begin
around tea time on Friday and finish after lunch on Monday. Check
