Other 150 Year Events<br />
Australia Day 2007<br />
More than 700 people attended this year’s event<br />
on Friday, 26 January, which was hosted by Acting<br />
Chief Executive Offi cer Bruce Williams and Her<br />
Worship Mayor Wendy Greiner. 72 residents took<br />
the Australian Citizenship Pledge, a signifi cant<br />
increase from 2006.<br />
As part <strong>of</strong> the 150 Year Celebrations, <strong>Council</strong><br />
funded a craft market featuring local sellers. Other<br />
changes this year included the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burnside</strong><br />
‘150 Facts’ historical display, an information desk<br />
to manage general enquiries, distribution <strong>of</strong> hand<br />
held fans, a face painter, and additional musical<br />
entertainment.<br />
<strong>Council</strong> also acknowledged local service clubs<br />
and societies by presenting a special 150 Year<br />
Community Award. The Clubs who received an<br />
Award were: Glenside Lions Club, <strong>Burnside</strong> Rotary<br />
Club, Glen Osmond Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Burnside</strong> East Adelaide, Lions Club <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burnside</strong>, Toc<br />
H; Zonta Club <strong>of</strong> Adelaide Torrens; Rotary Club <strong>of</strong><br />
Eastwood, <strong>Burnside</strong> CFS, Soroptimist International<br />
Eastern Districts <strong>of</strong> Adelaide, and the Eastern<br />
Watch SA Group.<br />

Vox Pop interviews<br />
This project saw the interviewing and fi lming on<br />
DVD <strong>of</strong> 21 <strong>Burnside</strong> residents <strong>of</strong> varying ages and<br />
backgrounds. They were asked a series <strong>of</strong> common<br />
questions about our <strong>City</strong> and then were given the<br />
opportunity to share their favourite memories or<br />
thoughts <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>.<br />
Once completed, a copy was placed in the historical<br />
section <strong>of</strong> the Library for viewing at future <strong>City</strong><br />
celebrations. A copy was also made available for<br />
loan in the Civic Centre Library.<br />
