because of his habit of putting all of his spare change in<br />
a piggy bank…Mother, Rosie Kellum, had an All-America<br />
basketball career at Stephen F. Austin from 1978-80 and<br />
was inducted into the school’s hall of fame…She went on<br />
to play for the Nebraska Wranglers, who won the Women’s<br />
Professional Basketball League title in 1981 before the<br />
league disbanded…Born with an irregular heartbeat, had<br />
surgery during college to remove extra blood vessels in<br />
his heart to remedy the problem…High school: Lettered<br />
twice at Center (Texas) High School…As a senior,<br />
was named the Tri-Defensive Player of the Year in only his<br />
second season playing high school football…Also earned<br />
all-district and all-state honors…In his final campaign,<br />
registered 112 tackles with three sacks…As a junior, came<br />
up with 97 tackles and 10 sacks…Additionally received alldistrict<br />
and all-region honors in basketball as a senior…<br />
Community involvement: At Texas A&M, was part of<br />
a volunteer effort that rebuilt area churches…Was involved<br />
in visits to hospitals the week leading up to the East-West<br />
Shrine Game as a participant in the contest…In early 2007,<br />
played in a memorable charity basketball game at Waupun<br />
(Wis.) High School…Caught an alley-oop pass from teammate<br />
Noah Herron and proceeded to shatter the glass backboard;<br />
the organization replaced both backboards for the<br />

the Brett Favre and Donald Driver Celebrity Softball Games,<br />
the Edgar Bennett Celebrity Bowl-A-Thon, and the Al Harris<br />
