league’s top-ranked defense before being relegated to a<br />
backup and special-teams role this past season…In 46<br />
career games (14 starts), has 94 tackles (80 solo) with<br />
four interceptions among 11 passes defensed, plus one<br />
forced fumble and one fumble recovery…Also has 22 career<br />
special teams tackles, including 15 his rookie year…<br />
Had 14 career interceptions at Syracuse, third most in<br />
school history, plus six blocked kicks, a school record…<br />
Was a first-team All-Big East selection as a senior in 2005,<br />
<strong>com</strong>ing to Syracuse from Hubbard (Ohio) High, where he<br />

games…At Cleveland (Sept. 14): Recorded a solo<br />
tackle on special teams…Vs. Baltimore (Sept. 29):<br />
Posted a special teams solo tackle…At Washington<br />
(Nov. 3): Recorded one solo tackle from scrimmage…At<br />
New England (Nov. 30): Recorded one solo tackle on<br />
special teams…Vs. Cleveland (Dec. 28): Saw his most<br />
extensive action from scrimmage on the season, posting<br />
four tackles (one solo).<br />
2007<br />
Played in all 16 games, starting 10 mostly in<br />
place of the injured Clark, for a Steelers defense<br />
that was ranked No. 1 in the league…Also started one<br />
postseason contest…Finished sixth on the team with 74<br />
tackles…Also had two interceptions among four passes<br />
defensed, and his first career forced fumble and fumble<br />
recovery…Added five tackles on special teams…At<br />
Cleveland (Sept. 9): Recorded six tackles (four solo)<br />
and registered a forced fumble…At Denver (Oct. 21):<br />
Posted three solo tackles and intercepted a Jay Cutler pass<br />
in the end zone for a touchback…At Cincinnati (Oct.<br />
28): Established a career high with nine tackles, all solo,<br />
and had one pass break-up…Vs. Baltimore (Nov. 5):<br />
Got his first fumble recovery on a fumble forced by Troy<br />
Polamalu…At N.Y. Jets (Nov. 18): Matched his career<br />
high with nine tackles…Vs. Jacksonville (Dec. 16):<br />

Played in all 16 games, breaking into the starting<br />
lineup for the final four contests when Clark got<br />
hurt…Totaled 15 tackles (13 solo) with two interceptions<br />
and seven passes defensed…Also had 15 tackles on special<br />
teams…Vs. Kansas City (Oct. 15): Had a careerbest<br />
three special teams tackles…Vs. Tampa Bay (Dec.<br />
3): Took over for Clark at free safety after he left game with<br />
groin injury, posting one tackle, one pass break-up, and<br />
two special teams tackles…Vs. Cleveland (Dec. 7):<br />
Made his first career start, in place of Clark, and notched<br />
his first <strong>NFL</strong> interception, picking off a Derek Anderson<br />
pass in the third quarter and returning it 20 yards…At<br />
Carolina (Dec. 17): Snagged a second interception<br />
in as many starts, picking off Chris Weinke, and posted<br />
another 20-yard return…Vs. Baltimore (Dec. 24): Recorded<br />
season-high seven tackles, all solo…2006 Draft:<br />
The first of two third-round picks by the Steelers (83rd<br />
overall), became the first Syracuse safety drafted since<br />
Tebucky Jones and Donovin Darius were each selected in<br />
the first round in 1998.<br />

Amassed 293 career tackles (185 solo), the third-best total<br />
by a Syracuse defensive back behind Darius (379, 1994-<br />
97) and Quentin Harris (327, 1998-2001)…Set a school<br />
record with six blocked kicks, turning two into touchdowns…Played<br />
in 46 career games, with 35 starts…Posted<br />
17 pass break-ups, three sacks, eight tackles for loss,<br />
four forced fumbles and five recoveries, and also returned<br />
one of his interceptions for a score…Majored in retail and<br />
consumer studies…Senior season (2005): Started<br />
every game and was named first-team All-Big East…Intercepted<br />
six passes and had eight pass break-ups, 71 tackles<br />
(50 solo), three sacks, five tackles for loss, two forced<br />
fumbles, three recoveries and a blocked punt…Became<br />
school’s all-time leader in blocked kicks at Pittsburgh (Oct.<br />
22), blocking a punt for his sixth career block; it was returned<br />
21 yards for a TD by a teammate. Also had an interception<br />
with a career-long 73-yard return in that game…<br />
Moved into third all-time in interceptions with sixth pick of<br />
season and 14th career vs. South Florida (Nov. 12)…Junior<br />
season (2004): Named second-team All-Big East,<br />
starting every game and finishing third on the team with 85<br />
